-It has been about 34 days of incubation for the first egg. Bald Eagle eggs usually hatch between 34-36 days on average. Some factors play into that like the weather, food supply and quality of incubation(more breaks vs less ect.). Either way we are now in the timeframe to see a hatch. Be on the lookout for a PIP. A PIP is a small hole in the egg created from the eagle chicks egg tooth which is a temporary sharp bump at the tip of the beak. Stay tuned and donโt forget to sign up for our email updates! ๐ฅฐ
About the nest:ย The nest is located in a suburb of Pittsburgh along the Monongahela River at the Mon Valley WorksโIrvin Plant in West Mifflin, PA. The U.S Steel bald eagle pair first started nesting along the Monongahela River near Pittsburgh in 2020.
