-๐ฆ ๐ณ Jackie and Shadow, the majestic residents of Big Bear treated us to a visit to their nest yesterday evening before roosting. Their evening ‘nestorations’ routine was calming to watch:
1๏ธโฃ Jackie arrived first, fussing over tiny twigs and inspecting the nest bowl. ๐ Perhaps some ants were making a home there too!
2๏ธโฃ When Shadow joined, they tackled some medium-sized sticks that were out of place. Their teamwork to adjust a stubborn stick was heartwarming. ๐ฅฐ
3๏ธโฃ After a bit more poking around, Jackie headed for the back porch while Shadow flew off towards the roost tree. ๐ณ
Meanwhile, a small part of Big Bear was under evacuation warning due to the expanding Line Fire. ๐ Helicopters could be heard in the nest cam background, scooping water from the lake to combat the fire. Fortunately, the fire has since calmed and moved away from the area. We’re grateful Jackie and Shadow are safe and more concerned about misaligned sticks than the fire! ๐
Today, both visited the Lookout Snag before heading out toward the lake, sticking to their recent routine. ๐
