-Sapphire’s first egg hatched Easter morning, and the second egg hatched the next day on April 21 2025.
After about 3 weeks the babies will have their feathers and be able to fledge from the nest. Although their tail feathers will still be a little short, flight will be limited compared to their parents. It’s not uncommon to find a young hummingbird on the ground during this stage of development. If you do, just leave them be as it’s normal and nothing is wrong with the young bird. The mom will continue to feed the chicks for a couple weeks after they fledge. Eventually they will become self sufficient and venture out on their own completely.
