🚢 **Spotlight on the MV Atlantic Huron and Joseph L. Block**
Yesterday afternoon, while sailboats flocked out for the night races, the MV Atlantic Huron and Joseph L. Block docked at the port. 🌊 Here’s the lowdown on these impressive ships:
1️⃣ **MV Atlantic Huron**: Built in 1984 and converted to a self-unloading vessel in 1989. It comes equipped with a unique unloading system featuring hopper-shaped cargo holds, hydraulic cargo gates, two tunnel conveyors, a ‘C’ Loop elevating belt, and an unloading boom. Owned and operated by CSL, this vessel ensures dust-free discharges with its boom hood. 🚤
2️⃣ **Joseph L. Block**: This self-unloading bulk carrier was constructed for Inland Steel Company. It’s the third of four sister ships including the Charles E. Wilson, H. Lee White, and American Mariner. The Block and the Mariner are nearly identical, with minor differences in their forecastle and guest accommodations. The Block boasts a single hold belt leading to an aft-incline belt system to a 250′ deck-mounted boom. 🛳️
