At about 8:30pm nest time what looked to be the male Eagle on the nest stood up, started calling and then flew off. The camera panned around for a little bit and an intruder was not in view. It’s been several hours that the egg has been left uncovered with no eagle in sight of the cameras current view. How long can a Bald Eagle be off an egg or eggs? That depends a lot on the current outside temp at the nest, but usually eagles won’t leave eggs uncovered for more than a few minutes. 10-15 minutes is rare. Several hours means that unfortunately the egg might not be viable anymore.

Update: In the middle of the night one of the eagles came back and sat on the egg only to get scared off again just a few hours later. Below is the video of that occurrence.
