🔄 Transformation Over the Years
The ship has had multiple transformations:
- Started hauling grain and ore in the 1960s and 1970s.
- In 1982, she was put into storage.
- In 1989, Fraser Shipyards purchased and converted her into a cement carrier.
- In 1990, New Management Enterprises renamed her as Alpena and used her for cement transportation.
🔥 Surviving the Odds
In 2015, she was the oldest active steamship on the Great Lakes. Despite being damaged by a fire in the same year, she continues to be operational till date under Andrie Transportation Group and Inland Lakes Management.
