In this video you will see the Presque Isle arrive to port at the Duluth canal. Built in 1973, The Presque Isle was a first of it’s kind self unloading tug/barge combo unit. The tug was designed where it would lock in and the pair would sail as one vessel. Together the vessel is 1000ft long. Its self-unloading equipment is made up of a dual hold belt system which goes to twin aft-located rotary elevators that feed a 250ft long deck-mounted boom.
