Video – First Egg Laid! – LPC Loon Nest Cam2

The first egg was laid today at the cam2 loon nest. As you will see in the video, it was not an easy process!😳 Loons usually lay two eggs 2-3 days apart. Both male and female take turns with incubation duties. After about 27 days on average the eggs will hatch. Incubation starts after the second egg is laid. The little loonlets will leave the nest within 24 hours after hatching. They will stay with their parents for up to 12 weeks before fledging. Note: The egg falls to the nest bowl at 12:43:08 cam time.
