- Both eaglets fledged: June 18. DH4 left the nest at about 5:45 a.m., while DH3 also fledged later that day.

About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline
- Fall: pair bonding, territory defense, and increasing nest work may begin.
- Winter: nest preparation and courtship become more intense as breeding season approaches.
- February: HD and HM2 laid their two 2026 eggs on February 17 and February 21.
- Late March: DH3 and DH4 hatched on March 27 and March 29.
- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

Philadelphia mint pressed their last penny today
I saw that. It costs almost 4 cents to make a penny. The cost to make a nickel is 13.8 cents. Not sure how much getting rid of the penny will save with the cost of the nickel.
oh no
Oh I thought they were done already….
I heard that on the news. I wonder how places will deal with that. Round up or round down?
Hi Carole Ann, I’m thinking up!
More than likely!
I heard up.
Of course!
I heard. Pretty sad to hear. I wonder if the Denver mint does penny’s ?
Jersey reminded me to ask here. Does anyone else have verizon and android auto for the car? I keep losing my android auto connection and cannot figure it out. Will go to DS place this weekend DDIL can always figure it out.

Do you get driving directions on the back up camera screen??
Hi Linda, it’s always nice to have your own tech support!
Coffee time. It was a dreary morning, sun came out late. I did laundry and got dog food, but not WM. The jeweler in town got a new dog i read, named MO. I thought his dog Rikki had passed, so had bag of treats & toy for MO. Well he just added Mo to the family and he has 2 now. So i asked him if he could cut my rings off and he said $15! Then i handed him my phone and he got it working, but said i still might have a problem. It worked a short… Read more »
Hi Joyce. I bet it will feel good to get the rings off. I never heard of a jeweler working on phones. Nice he will take a look at it for you.
Who is your phone carrier?
Yes, he does, he has replaced a cracked screen and battery on a phone i had years ago. Hes getting old and his shop is a mess, but i like to visit his dogs, Rikki is so sweet, Mo is a little wild puppy. I googled its best to get rings cut off by jewelers, but could cost $50-$100. $15 is a deal even if he charges me for both. I have a samsung with Comcast, my bill is only $21 a month, i like that
That is a good price to get them cut off. We have T-Mobile. DH is always messing something up on his phone and he takes it to them and they fix it for no charge. Of course we pay $100 for 2 lines.
The people in the Comcast store are rude, every time ive gone there. If he cant fix it i will have to go there, but…….hes very nice. I need a new phone soon, maybe sooner than i hoped
Mine is $30 a month which I like too
Oh that is good you will get them cut off…$15 is a great price.
So I took a nap today and while I was sleeping, DH got his flu shot at Walgreens. He told me he paid $88.00 for the flu shot after I woke up. I said it’s supposed to be free for people on Medicare and told him to call back and get his money back. He called and hes going back tomorrow to get his money back. Doesn’t feel up to it right now.
Hi Tracy, glad he got the shot & can get his $$ back. Men just dont think sometimes
Why didn’t the pharmacist realize that tho. He’s been going there forever.
He knew, just took advantage of Tim
Exactly and Tim is too trusting and nice and never speaks up for himself. I wonder how many others were charged for the flu shot when it is free. Makes me mad to think of anyone being taken advantage of.
And he got his prescriptions at the same time so they should’ve seen his age on the computer right?
Typical man. 😡 Hi Tracy
Very true. I guess I gotta hold his hand everywhere he goes and be his mommy. 🙄
😁
