Fort St. Vrain Eagle Cam
Watch live cams broadcasting the Fort St. Vrain Bald Eagles nest. This eagle pair(Ma & PA) usually lay eggs in late February to early March. The eggs then hatch after about 34-36 days in early to mid April. The young juvenile eagles usually fledge sometime in June or July.
It’s known that Ma eagle hatched in 2002 at a nest about 45 miles away from this one. Ma is 23 years old! We don’t know the males age.

The nest is about 9ft around and 8ft deep. It sits about 56ft up in the air in a cottonwood tree and weighs around 2500lbs. The nest is located next to the St. Vrain River near Platteville, CO, on property owned by Xcel Energy. The age of the nest is unknown, but we do know that the Rapture Resource Project first put a camera up in the nest tree back in 2003 and the nest was well established at that time.

Both there at the nest very early this morning. Waiting for a food delivery. Nothing was brought to them. They take turns carrying around that empty turtle shell hoping to find a bit of food in it. Hope the parents are feeding them off the nest.
They’re still here. 57 had something stuck in his beak and tried to shake it off, but it wouldn’t come off, so 56 took it off for 57.
They waited for a few minutes, but a parent didn’t show up.

57 dropped a small piece of food and 56 slowly took it.
56 saw that 57 wasn’t going to share, so 56 left. 57 ate it all.
A parent brought some food to the nest in the morning. Waited and looked around, but the fledglings didn’t come, so the parent was eating the food and left after about a half hour.
56 and 57 arrived at the nest in the evening. 57 started eating the leftovers from the parent’s morning delivery.
56 grabbed a smaller piece of the leftovers from the nest and placed it in his/her beak with the talon. 57 only ate about a minute or two, spotted an intruder approaching, and started crying out (photo). 56 then flew off with the small nestover. 57 jumped up as the intruder was landing, which gave the intruder the opportunity to grab the piece of food, and the intruder flew away with it.
