Meet M15 & F23
- M15: Veteran provider & nest engineer; known for multiple fish deliveries/day in pre-lay.
- F23: First egg of 2024 laid Nov 8; 2025 Nov 12th; in pre-lay periods she often eats on the nest and increases time in the nest tree.
How to Watch (Cam Tips)
- Playback: Use the DVR bar to rewind ~12 hours.
- Audio: Wind can mask vocalizations; try the 4K cam for clearer sound.
- Behavior cues: Mantling over food, aerating, rolling eggs, “chortle” vocalizations.
- Tip: For the best audio of chortles and wingbeats, use the 4K cam.
- Local time: The nest operates on Eastern Time (ET).
Nest History & Notable Moments
- Stick engineering: Watch M15 test & wedge branches to raise rails.
- Food log: Tilapia, catfish heads, mullet—varies by season and water levels.
- Visitor notes: Loggerhead shrike, anhinga, and the occasional raven fly-by.
FAQs
Q: When do SWFL eagles usually lay eggs?
A: Typically early–mid November, with hatch roughly 35 days later.
Q: Why is F23 eating on the nest?
A: In pre-lay, females often conserve energy and stay close to the bowl, so on-nest feeding increases.
Q: How can I tell who’s on the nest?
A: F23 is larger with a rounder head; M15 shows a slightly slimmer frame and often arrives with sticks or fish.
Q: Do you intervene?
A: No. These cams document wild eagles for education and research; intervention is not part of this project.
Q: Best times to watch?
A: Sunrise and late afternoon for deliveries and nest work; overnight for incubation shifts.

💜💜🦅🦅🙏🙏
M-15. Looks like he and F-23 have been decorating for Thanksgiving.
Cams back up. Yay!
So . . . . . As of now….Overhead cam (on right) is operational, but can’t rewind. Cam 4k is stuck and is buffering at 4:00 pm. Cam 360 is offline along with the pond cam. 😢😧. There was an early morning shift change, M-15 did not want to get up, but he did. 😂
Thank you Karen. I sure hope they get these bugs ironed out before hatch watch starts.
You’re welcome Vicki. I just don’t understand what is going on this year. 😢
The storm ruined everything there. Camera were ruined or gone. Hundreds of homes and business are gone. My friend own 2 condo’s and she is still waiting on Insurance. A lot of the insurance belly up and are broke .So far they have never been heard of since Took big churches down to nothing. Ft Meyer will take years to recover.
How awful! 😢 🙏 Which storm was this, Faith?
Me too!
I saw that shift change. That was cute! M15 was totally ignoring F23 who was standing in front of him (lol), but he finally decided to get up. He was probably so comfortable laying in that soft cozy nest.
Be nice if more men helped with the kids too ..😉
😂 Ain’t that the truth!
Just took this at 9:50 a.m. on November 25th. Eggies look great!! We seem to be having trouble with cloudflare. I got two error messages re SPO site. 😢 Anyway, I’m going to take pictures as I can. Hope it gets fixed. 🤗
I just noticed — the nest bole is heart-shaped! 🥰
So sweet 😍
