Meet M15 & F23
- M15: Veteran provider & nest engineer; known for multiple fish deliveries/day in pre-lay.
- F23: First egg of 2024 laid Nov 8; 2025 Nov 12th; in pre-lay periods she often eats on the nest and increases time in the nest tree.
How to Watch (Cam Tips)
- Playback: Use the DVR bar to rewind ~12 hours.
- Audio: Wind can mask vocalizations; try the 4K cam for clearer sound.
- Behavior cues: Mantling over food, aerating, rolling eggs, “chortle” vocalizations.
- Tip: For the best audio of chortles and wingbeats, use the 4K cam.
- Local time: The nest operates on Eastern Time (ET).
Nest History & Notable Moments
- Stick engineering: Watch M15 test & wedge branches to raise rails.
- Food log: Tilapia, catfish heads, mullet—varies by season and water levels.
- Visitor notes: Loggerhead shrike, anhinga, and the occasional raven fly-by.
FAQs
Q: When do SWFL eagles usually lay eggs?
A: Typically early–mid November, with hatch roughly 35 days later.
Q: Why is F23 eating on the nest?
A: In pre-lay, females often conserve energy and stay close to the bowl, so on-nest feeding increases.
Q: How can I tell who’s on the nest?
A: F23 is larger with a rounder head; M15 shows a slightly slimmer frame and often arrives with sticks or fish.
Q: Do you intervene?
A: No. These cams document wild eagles for education and research; intervention is not part of this project.
Q: Best times to watch?
A: Sunrise and late afternoon for deliveries and nest work; overnight for incubation shifts.

Good afternoon all..I am on the computer but cannot download the app. So I throw it into favorites and go from here. Not sure why there is no sound or is there no mic for sound?
try loading the page in to your start menu that’s what Idid hit your 3 dots top right then scroll down to more tools and then add to start easy peasy
Ihad sound but now I don’t must be a glitch
I have sound on my other sites
I can barely hear any sound on SWFL. I can’t hear any sound from E26 and I can barely hear when the parents call, even with my speakers turned all the way up. I do have good sound on the other SPO eagle web sites, so I know it’s not my computer, it’s the microphone at this nest.
@Donna W in the video there is a mute button. You just need to click or tap on that and it will unmute the video. We have mute ON by default. The mute button is usually on the bottom left corner of the video but it varies depending on device. It looks like a speaker.
mine was already on still no sound on this site
I just doubled checked and I don’t have sound either. I think its the videos.
So glad all is well at the SWFL nest today. Last night’s wind brought down an eagle nest in Port Richey, Fl and the eaglets had to be rescued. It will be nice when this Arctic Air Mass moves back to the Arctic.
that’s horrible , are the babies ok?
They are older eaglets (all brown feathers). They looked okay in the photos, but the rescue center still needs to complete their health checks. They said depending on the results of the health check, they’ll either be put in a nest that has eaglets around the same age for new parents to raise (if healthy), or they will be kept at a rescue center for rehab until releasable and then they’ll be released into the wild in a place where there are a lot of other eagles to learn from. Sad for the parents though. Babies gone 😪
It is sad. Do parents with their own eaglets usually accept the new babies?
I know that they used this technique for a male eaglet in south jersey and the new parents did raise him. He was banded when he was rescued, and years later, he was identified as the male adult occupying the Duke Farms nest because of the bands on his feet. He was there for years. I’ve also watched a nest in Canada where one eaglet died and the mom brought a hawklet for Junior the healthy eaglet to eat, but when the hawklet (Malala) started to cry for food, the mom instinctively fed it. Even though it was small, Junior… Read more »
What a remarkable story! I’m surprised the hawklet survived being carried. Most prey is DOA.
Thanks for sharing that story.
Thank you again for the video. How touching to see the eaglet feeding the hawklet.
You’re welcome, Debbie. It is touching. Still makes me tear up when I watch it.
I bet that eaglet in about 5 years will be an excellent parent.
I remember the Hawk story I thought that was really cool
It was very interesting to watch that nest, although the cam was not that sharp/clear and was farther away from the nest compared to the cams on SPO. It’s amazing how one species can sometimes adopt and care for a different species.
I remember that it was amazing
Yes it was
I do feel sad for the parents of the babies that fell from nest. Sad 😞.
i wish there was someway to put the nest up in a man made structure so that those young eaglets could continue to be with their parents
The male eaglet was transported to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, so he either has an injury that requires recuperation, or they have an adult eagle there who can mentor him, similar to Murphy the bald eagle of Missouri. The other eaglet is a female. They said that they were going to take x-rays of the eaglets, so they may have suspected breaks, but they haven’t disclosed any details about the health of either eaglet to the public. Sometimes they do put up support platforms, but most likely that’s a decision of the organizations involved based on the… Read more »
Thanks for the update on that nest 😀
You’re welcome
At big bear..?
no Port Richey florida At big bear the ravens broke both eggs and ate some of them
Oh no. Hope the babies are ok. Our eagle and eaglet are sleeping peacefully right now.
Concern is always in our hearts 🥰 for the precious ones.
Yes, I too, will be glad to have this crazy colder weather leave. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Stay safe and cozy mommy and baby.
You’re welcome, Lisa.
AMEN TO THAT
Oh no glad they were able to rescue the Eaglet

Has the temperature come back up yet? Miss you guys..I’ll be here a bit more another Lil bit growing so fast..😊
Wind is 13 mph, actual temp 35degrees, feels like 27degrees in fort Myers, Fl.
Sweetheart baby staying warm with mommy in the nest!!!!
😳 Wow! I had no idea it was that cold at the nest! And that is deep into Florida. It is good the baby has her thermal underwear now.
46 degrees, 16mph wind, and feels like 39 degrees. It’s 12:21 p.m., Ft. Meyers, Fl.
Hopefully Mom or Dad will bring Lunch soon for baby.
Wow that is very cold for that area. What is it usually, about 70?
Sometimes 70s to 80s. I like the chill in the air, but this is a bit much. Meteorologist say last time it was this cold at this time of yr was 2010.
The wind is what’s making it colder.
Burrrrrr. Bet you don’t have good ways to heat.
😆😆😆😆
Got down to 21 here in Volusia. It was 23 this morning. The water bowls I leave outside for the animals were both frozen yesterday morning and this morning. We kept our hose on a low run so at least they could drink from that.
So thoughtful of you to have water from hose for thirsty babies!!!
Cold tonight in Ft Myers. Low in 30s. Stay warm sweet eagle babies!!! Can’t help but feel concern for them!
poor iguanas are falling out of the trees theirs a bunch of people trying to rescue them but some have already died from the cold
Donna! There you are. Where have you been? Karen and I spoke of you last night, did your ears burn? Happy Birthday dear friend. I hope it was a really good one, and you got spoiled as much as you deserve. ♥️
I had a pretty easy day. We hunkered down waiting to see if we hot more snow. I just came from BIG BEAR and heard the devastating news..so sad!
Yes I hate what happened at Big Bear. I watched the video, so hard to watch. One of the eggs it looks like he barely cracked it ate vey little. So two eggs gone, not even the equivalent of one eaten. I guess it was only going to be a 2 egg nest this year since no more were laid.
Oh, sad, sad 😞. I too am following big bears Jackie and Shadow. Feeling upset for them. Must have better outcomes.
I heard that today is Donna’s birthday. I wanted to stop by and say Happy Birthday! I haven’t seen you in a while and I hope you are doing okay. I hope you had a wonderful day! 🎉🎂
Thank you Karen…I received a new computer for Christmas and wanted to make sure I could visit here on it. But its an HP and if I change its security to download anything from the web the security setting gos away.😪 So I will continue from my phone. Thanks for thinking of me.💜💜
Donna that shouldn’t be. Have you talked to a computer nerd/genuis? Sorta takes away the function of the computer. It won’t be much fun to watch a nest on a phone.
hi deb unfortunately that’s the new windows 11 they only let you download items from Microsoft store. i couldnt even transfer my printers software on this new dell tech takeover is what i call it
I thought we had laws against this? I remember when Microsoft was forced to allow other operating systems. So you can’t use Chrome or Firefox or all the other operating systems out there. SPO isn’t even an app, it is a web site. Guess I just don’t understand enough about computers to understand this. So if I had your computer I couldn’t use the web based Kroger.com? I would have to use the Kroger app? The web site and the app are different, and I don’t like the app!
I had no problem getting all my eagle sites I would click on a site and then immediately add it to my start menu I have about 15 different animal sites on there that i can watch
I’m glad you are able to have all your sites. I have always heard you can’t have more than one security because they fight each other. But I’m not all that familiar anymore. I just use my iPad and iPhone don’t even own a PC any more. I can do everything on an iPad I want. It is even cellular enabled.
I don’t much except read emails , watch my eagles , play solitaire and place orders on amazon lol
I do all of the above and a bit more. Jigsaw puzzles and paying most bills online, some banking and watching tv. 😂
👍
Bossmom, they tell me I have to have to download an extension to do websites and I still can’t figure it out.🤷♀️. Grrr
I wish they’d stop screwing with this technology. they make it worse every year
I couldn’t transfer my Norton 360 to the new puter cause it comes with virus protection already on it
True Debbie. Yes I went to the geeks squad and its the way HP has set up the computer. It basically is protected from downloading any apps downloaded to it except for I think Microsoft. I can take it off, but once thats done it will never return to the protection that it started with.
But SPO isn’t an app, it’s a website.
I am on but have to go through SPO OR you tube and hate the commercials that keep popping up 😡
An ad blocker might help on SPO but not YouTube.
Hello Mommy and Baby!!!
Stay safe, warm and cozy on this cold and windy central Florida night. Know that you are 🥰 loved!!!
Be safe mom and E26
