Chickadee Nest Cam
You are watching a live cam of wild Chestnut-backed Chickadees nesting. This nest cam is located in San Fransisco, California. Chestnut-backed chickadees can be found all along the west coast of North America. Nest building starts with intense activity making many trips to prepare the nest for eggs. After the first two days, their work slows down, and they spend time away from the nest more. Once the nest is finished, the female roosts on it at night, preparing to laying eggs. She stays at the nest from dusk until dawn, only adding soft materials during the day.

@HNF what happened to the camera?
Mom feeding her young! I see 4 beaks and 1 unhatched egg… still mysteries remain. 😊
about 10:13AM 4/24/25
Could there be more than 4 chicks in the nest. This pic doesn’t prove it, but I have my suspicions. 🤔😊
4:26:08 cam time
I’ve seen a parent taking out pieces of egg shell… as well as, I’ve seen egg #5 (the egg that didn’t hatch )still in the nest. It’s wait and see time. No pics on these sightings… and no time now for me capture and post them… maybe, later! 😁 😉
This pic is more convincing for 5 chicks!
Another look at these pics … I’m not convinced yet! I’ve only saw 4 beaks but sometimes it does look like there’s 5 bodies. 😄And why is mom digging in the bottom of the nest?
The mystery nest box is still that!!! 😋
