🔥**Line Fire Impact on Big Bear Valley**🔥
The Line Fire started near Highland on September 5 and has since covered 25,000 acres. The containment is at 5%, with 1,708 personnel involved. Although the fire hasn’t directly hit Big Bear Valley, heavy drift smoke has, leading to the closure of 2 out of 3 roads to the area. An evacuation warning is in place, though no immediate threat is present.
🌲**Natural Barriers and Distance**🌲
The fire is still several thousand feet down the mountain from the valley, separated by high peaks, ridges, and about 10 miles of rough terrain.
🦅**Eagle Activities Amid the Fire**🦅
Despite the smoke, our eagles Jackie and Shadow continue their daily routine of visiting favorite perch trees and spending nights on the roost tree.
🐦**Increased Wildlife Visits**🐦
The nest tree has seen an increase in visitors, possibly due to animals seeking shelter from the fire. Some of the visitors include Dark-eyed Juncos, Pygmy Nuthatches, and White-breasted Nuthatches.
👩🚒**A Thank You to Firefighters**👩🚒
A massive thank you goes to all the firefighters and support personnel working tirelessly to keep everyone safe. We’ll continue monitoring the situation and update you as it unfolds.
