We Have A PIP! – Fort St. Vrain Bald Eagle Cam

A PIP hole has started in one of the 4 eggs. We should see a hatch within 24 hours or so after the PIP starts. The eagle parent was doing a lot of listening yesterday which is a tell tale sign something is going on and a PIP should be soon. With 4 eggs hopefully they hatch in a close timeframe to each other. This will help with sibling bonking and also increase their chances of survival.

As a reminder on average when 4 eggs are laid there is a 75% chance that all 4 will hatch and a 78% chance that all 4 will fledge if they hatch and a 68% of overall survival once out of the nest(via elfruler.com). The first eaglet to hatch this nesting season will be named FSV51.
