Andria III lays her first egg for the season!
What a beautiful moment at the KNF E-3 nest. Andria III has laid her very first egg, and you can almost feel how big this moment is for her. As she laid the egg, she made soft whistling sounds that many viewers noticed right away. That sound wasn’t Alex II being excited. It was Andria herself, working hard and letting her feelings out during a very important moment. Laying an egg can take a lot of effort, and it may be uncomfortable, so those sounds tell us just how real and powerful this moment was.
Alex II arrived right after the egg was laid, and it truly looked like he was seeing an egg for the very first time. His timing was perfect, and his presence seemed to calm things down right away. Andria was very gentle and careful as she settled over the egg, already showing her motherly instincts. Even though this is her first egg, she handled it with great care, like she was born ready for the job.
Some viewers wondered how we went from Andria II to Andria III. Eagles at well-known nests are often given similar names over the years when a new eagle takes over the role of a previous one. Andria III is the current female at this nest, carrying on the name while starting her own story.
Now the waiting begins. Bald eagle eggs usually take about thirty five days to hatch. Since this egg was just laid today, we can expect a hatch sometime around late January. That means the official hatch watch will likely begin around January 25 to January 30, depending on how steady the incubation is. During this time, Andria and Alex will take turns keeping the egg warm and safe.
This first egg marks the start of a brand new season for this young pair. It is a moment filled with hope, learning, and love. Great job, Andria III. Now it’s time to rest, keep that precious egg warm, and let nature do the rest. 🦅🥚💛
