The eagles typically lay eggs in late January. Incubation, hatching, and early chick rearing run through late winter and early spring.
Over the years, Jackie and Shadow have become fan favorites as viewers watch them overcome storms, snow, heat, and the occasional raven or intruding eagle. Their nest sits more than a mile above sea level in the San Bernardino Mountains. Here, changing weather at Big Bear Lake can bring bright sunshine one day and heavy snow the next. Update from Ojai 8/5 – “Today was a significant day for Patient 26-519. She underwent further advanced diagnostics, including a contrast CT scan and bone marrow biopsy. She recovered well from anesthesia and is back in her recovery enclosure receiving supplemental oxygen. there’s an eagle vet expert at the raptor center in Alaska, I wish that she could come treat Jackie. I think a fresh set of eyes could help these heroes fix our queen. they are doing a wonderful job but everyone could use a helping hand
Her name is Dr. Victoria Vosburg and she is at the raptor center in Sitka Alaska and she has had a lot of success saving bald eagles
I took a cruise to Alaska once and we stopped in Sitka. There were so many eagles in the trees there! She must be one of the world’s best eagle vets.
