The eagles typically lay eggs in late January. Incubation, hatching, and early chick rearing run through late winter and early spring.
Over the years, Jackie and Shadow have become fan favorites as viewers watch them overcome storms, snow, heat, and the occasional raven or intruding eagle. Their nest sits more than a mile above sea level in the San Bernardino Mountains. Here, changing weather at Big Bear Lake can bring bright sunshine one day and heavy snow the next. That dramatic setting makes every visit to the Big Bear Eagle cam a little different. You may see calm sunrise lake views or intense wind and snow events that test the nest.

Shadow loves this pine tree😊
He really does! He looks so handsome 💜
yes he does💞
No eagles in site just this cute little chipmunk looking for scraps. I think he found something.
The little chipmunk is very, very cute!!!!
Fiona or one of her babies…? 😍
😁
Shadow and Kaydee on look-out snag 6:26 am nest time. Beautiful!
I spy an eagle in the bottom cam. I think I see Kaydee’s markings.
Saw Kaydee in the nest this morning, but Shadow didn’t go to the nest. They were both in the twin pines tree at 10:45am.
Thanks Mary.
Seen a squirrel or chipmunk skirting around the nest this ńmorning around 7:30am’
Cute feathers mark on her head, it looks to me like an eagle spreading it’s wings. 💗
It really does!! Good eye ML- that is precious💞
Hi RR! It’s…
😊
Oh ML how observant you are! It does look like that. Great photo. Do you watch SWFL nest? It appears F-23 has a female interest. So both our recently widowed eagles seem to have found mates.
Oh my. M23 has a female friend. He is a good father and husband. He deserves happiness and companionship!!!
Hi Lisa. We lost two beloved female eagles in the same season. Can you believe it. And a second a really short time ago. Harriett. We only had F-23 for one season. Hard to believe, seems so much longer. I’m happy it seems Shadow and M-15 have both found mates. We don’t know for sure, but I think it is probable. I was looking at my record, in 2024 first egg was 11/08. We could be seeing mating probably within a month in Florida if M-15 has indeed found a mate.
Hello Debbie!!!
it was a very tough season, loosing our beloved girls. Still very difficult because it has not been long since we lost 😞 them. Our hearts 💕 hang on to the sweetness of them forever. I’m very glad our sweetest dads have companionship.
Interesting that you mentioned 11/08 date in’24, for a previous hatching. WOW, around the corner. We will see…
ive enjoyed conversations between you and Karen Marie on other site.
So happy to see M-15 again!!!
I do miss our sweetest F-23.
Wishes for a very smooth upcoming season. Prayers for only smooth sailing this season.
Hi Lisa, I meant to say Harriett was the THIRD eagle we lost in what is still recent times. Poor M-15 lost mates in back to back seasons.
Karen is a sweet person, we have actually talked a couple times on the phone. We chat the most at the hummingbird site.
Oh 😣 to loose the ones that are loved… Harriet must have been another special sweetheart. Again, happiness with M15 and Shadows new loves, and long happy lives.
Ive tried to reach the hummingbird bird site, but I must be doing something wrong.
Thank you Debbie!!!
Lisa were you not there when Harriett was there? She just died in Feb. 2023. Then by the start of the new season in the fall of 2023 M-15 chose F-23 for his new mate for the 2023-2024 season.
The hummingbird site, there are 3 of them, is the one that says Hummingbird Nest – Dec-May on SPO’s main page. The chat is one of the more active sites and the people talk about everything. You do know how to find the main page? I have all the sites bookmarked so I don’t go there a lot.
Thanks Debbie!!! I only began my eagle 🦅 following by chance. It was when M15 & precious F23 birthed sweetest Little E. That would have been Dec. 2025, if I’m correct. Such a short time ago, yet it seems like sooo long ago. I was heartbroken when F23 passed away. Shortly after Little E left. So heartbreaking. Fell in love with the BBV eagles 🦅 involving more heartbreak 💔.
Thing must be better for the sweetest male eagles 🦅 this season.
I will give hummingbird information you gave me a try. I’ll let you know if I’m successful.
😍
Wow Lisa I really thought I had known you longer than not even a year! I guess you made a big impression. I think you know Ardy (Ardyth) and Julie, Karen Marie, maybe some others that talk at the hummingbird site.
Hello to you Debbie!! It does feel like I have been on sites longer than I have. That’s right about the names you mentioned. Very nice people to share eagle 🦅 love with. I’m still toying with trying to reach the hummingbird site. There are so many of them. I want to make sure it’s the same site that you and the other eagle 🦅 lovers share!!!! Have a lovely day my friend!!!!
I’m not too savvy at technical items….
Hello to our sweetest eagles 🦅!!!!
You will know you have the right site because you will see me and Julie there, usually Ardy, Karen mostly at night. And now I see you did find us.
Hi Debbie, I used to a few years back but I stopped, to much time here and little with my projects. I’m glad their situation it’s turning around to have a possible good upcoming season, fingers cross for all.
I’m not surprised F-23 probably has a new mate but sorta surprised they aren’t building a new. Est in another tree. Maybe because of getting a new mate and not getting an early enough start on a nest. Or, maybe to them, it is the Taj Mahal!
😄… All of the above and possibly building a nest in another location too and that is not good for us…
It might be ok of it is on the Pritchett property but I doubt if the eagles know the property line. They probably just care about being close to the pond.
They know only the line of their territory. But will be nice to send them a map of the property… LOL! 🙃
Think it would work? My printer is malfunctioning so I can’t send a copy of the property lines. I can’t send it electronically because I don’t think they own a computer, at least I haven’t seen one in their nest.
maybe an iphone easy to hide
😁. Could be! They could snuggle it under a wing!
😅
I’ll get right on that for sure 😆😆
its M15 the male and F23 his female partner
but F23 has been missing since february
Yes. M stands for male and F stands for female. The numbers represent the year they became active at the nest. The eaglets are consecutively numbered from when the cam began.
right you are!
Well I wasn’t right! I said it backwards. I’m so sorry.
Oh I got caught up in the number-letter thing. Sorry, that had to be confusing. Yes you are right. M is male, F female. So sorry. And yes F died in February. I wish we could just use names, easier for me.
Very cute!!! Thank you ☺️ ML. I love the marks on her head. I hope they stay.
Oh me too, they are very cute.
This video is from the morning of 9/16. Kaydee was respectful of Shadow while he ate his fish. He left no scraps. Maybe he doesn’t bring a fish gift for her until they become a mating pair?
It is very impressive how long Kaydee perched on the front porch, so calm, waiting for Shadow to finish his catch.
