The eagles typically lay eggs in late January. Incubation, hatching, and early chick rearing run through late winter and early spring.
Over the years, Jackie and Shadow have become fan favorites as viewers watch them overcome storms, snow, heat, and the occasional raven or intruding eagle. Their nest sits more than a mile above sea level in the San Bernardino Mountains. Here, changing weather at Big Bear Lake can bring bright sunshine one day and heavy snow the next. That dramatic setting makes every visit to the Big Bear Eagle cam a little different. You may see calm sunrise lake views or intense wind and snow events that test the nest.

Hi and thank you, CAnn_MI!
Hello, Ms. KD!
finally some beautiful sun!
Today looks like a repeat of yesterday. ☔Tropical storm Rachel still bringing lots of rain and fog to Big Bear. Tomorrow it will be sunny here 🌞, so Shadow and Kaydee will be aerating the nest so that it dries.
Temperature in mid 40’s light rain and possible snow showers today low tonight 41, humidity 79% winds at 10 mph all day .. tomorrow night Low temp will be 37. Will warm up later this week..
Hope that you didn’t experience any flooding from the storm, Gwen. I’ll bet you’re happy to have relief from the high temperatures that you had.
Hi Mary, yes loved the rain, we got 3 inches, all the flooding was on the coastal beaches, which we were there on Thursday,, they had one lane closed as they were putting boulders along the coast roads, you could already see where the beaches dropped about 2-3 ft from the high waves..it flooded over parking lots to the beach..really did damage in Oceanside and Long Beach. Temps dropped 30 degrees but will be back up again..
Was our first rain since January…
Wow! They would need an awful lot of boulders to really protect a wide coastal area. So glad that it was not a hurricane for you. The ocean waves of Hurricane Isaias damaged some of the beach areas and flooded some buildings along the coast of NJ too, but I’m inland, so all was well here. It’s very peaceful to live by the water (oceans, the Gulf, rivers), but when a major storm rolls in, it can be dangerous and destructive. It’s safer to be away from the water a little bit or on an elevated peace of land.
Be well, Gwen!
A lot of fog and rain today. Can’t even see the lake.
