- Egg #1: HM2 laid the first egg on February 17, 2026, at about 6:33 p.m. CT.

- DH4 hatched: March 29, giving HD and HM2 two eaglets at Nest N6.
- Both eaglets fledged: June 18. DH4 left the nest at about 5:45 a.m., while DH3 also fledged later that day.
- DH3: was later admitted to SOAR with a soft-tissue wing injury. The latest official update reported no wing or leg fractures, very low blood lead levels, weight gain, and continued rehabilitation in a flight pen.

About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline
- Fall: pair bonding, territory defense, and increasing nest work may begin.
- Winter: nest preparation and courtship become more intense as breeding season approaches.
- February: HD and HM2 laid their two 2026 eggs on February 17 and February 21.
- Late March: DH3 and DH4 hatched on March 27 and March 29.
- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

I am so mad. I can’t waatch the Packers game. It is on Peacock. To watch all the NFL games you have to sign up for so many services and I just refuse.😡😡😡
Hi Becki, I refuse too, don’t see a few of the programs I used to see, oh well.
Everything is so complicated anymore, at least for this old lady!!!🙄
Me too
Hi Bons, I agree it can be complicated. We have Peacock because there are shows on NBC I’d like to watch but can’t and I don’t feel like recording. I am thinking of dropping it in the New Year.
Oh they are getting expensive, no thanks.
Awww! I wish I can help.
Amen to that Bon!!
I know! DH has to log into everything.
i do not watch. just periodically google the score.
A lot of complains about streaming the games, I’m glad I didn’t try it. Sorry, Becki!
Maybe if enough of us refuse they will stop the streaaming. But the NFL makes a lot of money for it. They care more about money than the fans.
you are so right!!!!!!!!!!😡
I totally agree
we arent paying for them either
I have pea co ck so I can watch DOOL my soap. It started out free and now is 11.95 a month
Christmas day there was 3 games and Rick couldnt watch any because we didnt get any of them!!!!!!!
It stinks!!!!!!!
I agree.
That’s how they start. Offer it free to get you sucked in and then charge you.
I hate all these streaming! It took forever to log in to one to watch some X-mas movies!
So you have all the streaming channels for sports?
We dont do NETFLIX, or have Amazon prime …
We have those. I rarely watch. This is all DH.
We have prime but I do lot of shopping on prime. Don’t watch a lot on it.
No.But I watch Youtube TV. I get local and a bunch of channels.
I worked a few hours today and then we all went out to lunch. Then I cleaned out the inside the car and went thru the car wash and vaccuumed it out. I wanted to get it done because after tomorrow our temps are really going to drop. We will have at least 7 days with temps not getting above freezing. I am not happy.
Smart to get it done. We are staying cold too
I hate cold. Don’t think we will have much sunshine either which makes it worse. I don’t know how ML does it. I REALLY need to see the sun.
I’m sorry about the game Becki, I wanted to see it too. I have my streaming tv that is similar to our old cable. I pay $90 a month. I’m not willing at least yet to pay more for this or that. It is just getting complicated. I hate winter! We are going to drop about 40 degrees from one day to the next.
Hi Becki, good you did car detail before the Frigid temps. you go girl 😊take care, stay warm..
Relax and have a nice evening….
How was lunch? What did you have?
My car needs to be cleaned again…..sigh
Lunch was good. We went to Panera’s. I had a BBQ chicken and tomato basil soup,
I liked the French Onion soup I had one time I went to Panera’s, back in the day!
They have a lot of good things.
My favorite thing there is the four cheese souffle they offer at breakfast. I also like the broccoli cheese soup and the tomato basil soup. They had a chili I liked too.
I wanted the soufflr but they were out
