About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline

- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

Do you have that Zen feeling now?
🤔not sure what you mean?
A “zen feeling” is a state of calm, clear presence where you’re fully immersed in the present moment, free from overthinking, judgment, or attachment to past/future worries, finding peace and awareness in simple actions and sensations like breathing, nature, or daily tasks
All is right with the world.😀
Im watching the news😧
That will not give you a Zen feeling.😫
LOL
No it won’t!
No, but i am ok.
Does anyone have this feeling?
Yay!!
Hi Joyce, Great, have a relaxing evening. sweet dreams…..
I sure hope the allegations against Melissa Gilbert’s husband arent true.
Me too. I feel sorry for her,.
My DH is sick with a really bad cold or covid. Not sure which one. Hope I don’t catch it. He’s been in bed most of the day and I had a nap earlier and have been watching shows I taped. Having leftover tuna noodle casserole and tomorrow lasagna. Didn’t plan out the noodle thing very good but at least lasagna tastes totally different than tuna noodle casserole. I sure hate planning meals.
Sorry Tim is so sick and i hope you dont get it. I hate meal planning too, i might have a frozen dinner or skip dinner and go right to the coconut custard pie i bought
I’d go for the pie for sure.
Hope DH feels better soon. Maybe he should do a Covid-flu test. I was thinking I would make tuna casserole tomorrow.
I told him when he was starting to come down with this to go to the doctor or walk in clinic to get tested and possibly a prescription but he didn’t listen.
😡😡
Hi Tracy, hope DH feels better Soon, take care of you 🤗
Thank you Bons. I try but I always put everyone and my kitties ahead of me.
It got up to 50 today. Tomorrow will only be in the 20’s and VERY windy.
It’s 39 here but very windy. How was work today?
Good. Very slow.
Makes for a long day but better than working hard. 👍
I would rather keep busy.😃
Here too, after tomorrow we will be in deep freeze til end of month, and not looking forward to it, brr
Same here. UGH!
Having cofee. Looks like a very quiet day in the chat.
I see it’s quiet here. How’s DS feeling today?
I haven’t talked to him today. He usually calls me after his last delivery on his way back to the center.
Oh my. He worked today?? Must be doing good if you haven’t heard from him yet.
They said he could go back to work today
Morning. Nice blue skys in Decorah.
Good morning. Fran. Cold and chilly here.
48 deg. out there. Wow, warm early morning. I told DH that the furnace was kicking on during the night and didn’t realize how warm it was out there. We usually have the heater turn down at 9PM to 60 and then at 6AM it turns back up to 70. I don’t like sleeping when it’s to warm in the house. It was so good to get back in pool yesterday for DWA. It was shut down for 3 weeks. Off to get my breakfast.
Hi Gail! Enjoy the DWA. It is 34 degrees here this a.m. Headed to 46 today. We keep our thermostat at 67, if it gets warmer we will set back to 65. I don’t like to sleep in a warm room either. It’s supposed to get cooler at the end of the week.
Morning Ellie. Too cold for me.
Morning I would freeze at that temp.
