About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline
- Fall: pair bonding, territory defense, and increasing nest work may begin.
- Winter: nest preparation and courtship become more intense as breeding season approaches.
- February: HD and HM2 laid their two 2026 eggs on February 17 and February 21.
- Late March: DH3 and DH4 hatched on March 27 and March 29.
- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

Hi Carole Ann. They are growing too fast. 🙄
@HNF Is there a way to close out the white border at the bottom of the screen? Used to have an X to close it, but no more.
Do you have AdBlock? Open AdBlock and use the “block element” option then look for the ad to block and click it.
does not seem to be an ad, just a border
Mine eliminates anything…
TY, that did it. ((((HUGS))))
Giving you another techy award!!! TY

Hello everyone. Another busy day. DH, Mom and I went to one of our local cellphone stores and we all got new free cell phones for signing a 2 year contract with that company. All 3 of us had breakfast at a restaurant that was sold and bought. We needed an hour to kill for the company to switch our old phone over to the new phones.
Nice day for the 3 of you, new free phones & lunch 😎
Thx. How’d it go with the concrete people?
Do I want cement, pavers stamped concrete or redo slate?? Got.estimates and of course more $$ than I hoped. Decisions????
Oh I hate making decisions. I understand your dilemma.
I came here to find out too.
Do you think one would last longer than the other kinds? Are the steps you need wood or concrete?
New IPhones?
Yes 3 free Apple iPhone 17e. I ordered new cases for them from Amazon.
Hi Tracy, enjoy your new phones 😎 have a nice evening!
Ha ha. By the time I have it figured out, it’ll be outdated and time for a new one. Thx. You have a nice evening also.
Three phones for free! Wow! What brand did you get? I don’t get them for free because there is just me! I did get a discount today when I called in to pay off my phone. Only had five payments left so I thought I would lower my monthly bill. Found out there was a discount for people 55+. So that lowered it a bit more.
We have a store here called thumb cellular. They give free phones to sign a 2 year contract to have your service with them. All 3 of us got an Apple iPhone 17e. They had an Apple iPhone Air, a Samsung galaxy A17 also to choose from.
At thumb cellular it wouldn’t matter if it’s just one person on the account. As long as you sign the 2 year contract you get a free phone.
I’ve never even heard of it. I’ll have to look it up.
That is great. I need a new phone.
Are you coming here to get one? Lol
Hello. DS robin update
Oh yay!!!! I take it that every year the robins have been there, everything has turned out ok???
Yes, and nice the nest is sheltered from rain and a lot of the winds. The nest is on a light to the left of the door and under the overhang.
Oh I’d like to live there also. Beautiful house. Robins got it made there. Nice!!!
TY, it is. and the back yard is about 1/3 of an acre. DS gardens and tends it dutifully! He even planted sea buckthorn for his wife. A tree grown in her native Mongolia! He has blueberry plants, raspberry plants, a new pear tree, a quince bush, mulberry tree. black walnut tree, hickory tree and grows cukes, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, asparagus, rhubarb,
Sounds like paradise. Do they live close to you?
1/2 hr. not bat.
No not bad. Nice to have them that close.
Good afternoon, Wouldnt be surprised if we get a shower soon, my day was productive, got a lot done on the porch, will finish tomorrow, need to bring stuff inside i dont want washed, but it sure zapped my energy. Seeing quite a few hummers today, and my honey suckle should bloom for full moon friday. Interesting estimates, from $3200 to $5800 🤔 for a walkway and back step repair. Waiting for one more to reuse the slate, i hope that one is reasonable as i like that idea best. The Es are such a pretty color, sleeping now
Nice that you’re seeing hummers and got the estimates. I hope it works out for you and are happy when they’re done. We will want to see pictures, please!!!!
I love the color of the E’s at this stage, its my favorite.
