- Egg #1: HM2 laid the first egg on February 17, 2026, at about 6:33 p.m. CT.
- Egg #2: HM2 laid the second egg on February 21 at about 5:03 p.m. CT.

- DH4 hatched: March 29, giving HD and HM2 two eaglets at Nest N6.
- Both eaglets fledged: June 18. DH4 left the nest at about 5:45 a.m., while DH3 also fledged later that day.
- DH3: was later admitted to SOAR with a soft-tissue wing injury. The latest official update reported no wing or leg fractures, very low blood lead levels, weight gain, and continued rehabilitation in a flight pen.
- DH4: was last seen or heard on the morning of July 28. RRP noted that her increasingly long absences were consistent with the wider ranging young eagles often show before dispersal, although her exact location was unknown.
About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline
- Fall: pair bonding, territory defense, and increasing nest work may begin.
- Winter: nest preparation and courtship become more intense as breeding season approaches.
- February: HD and HM2 laid their two 2026 eggs on February 17 and February 21.
- Late March: DH3 and DH4 hatched on March 27 and March 29.
- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

Morning. Glad your hands feel better. I always use something for pull tabs. I need to protect my nails.😀
Hope the pill helps Mo.
I would like to know the med because my hands are what are deteriorating. I’m on Orencia and hydroxychloroquine.
hydroxycho,,,,,,,
Thanks. I have a new knuckle that is hurting. Possibly I hurt my finger, but I don’t remember doing that. It is the finger most used to “salute” people you don’t like! I can’t imagine hurting it but not the two beside it. I’ll know in a couple of days but right now I think it is RA. ☹️
Yes, i have to see Dr. next month, but my best guess is RA too, think it affects my feet too. The Joyless aging. I use a walking stick now
I know I have RA I was diagnosed 2 years ago. My feet/ankles are another issue which bothers me more than RA.
I finished the LION…..Very good but, i cried
I have it recorded
, hope it.has a happy ending
Morning Ardy.
Good Morning. Niice cool morning here.
Morning Becki, Nice, enjoy!
Good morning, 59 deg. outside right now on beautiful sunrise. Sure is getting darker in the evenings and later for light in the mornings. I have a lunch with a girl friend from the pool at 11:30AM who turns 70 on the 29 of August. but we are both busy so I am doing it early. Next week we are heading to Santa Barbara, CA. going to give Prince Harry a piece of my mind😂 Off to get my oatmeal going. Hugs!
Hi Gail! You’re right about the length of sunlight diminishing…..It was 62 degrees here this morning, air is crisp, no humidity like the past week. Enjoy lunch! Also, say hi to Harry. I really think he will go back to “the fold”, maybe not Meghan, but him definitely. William needs him whether he admits it or not. Have a great weekend.
I am not so sure William really needs him. He is a bit of a loose cannon and I am not sure he is reliable.
The King needed to stay out of his sons and wives issues. Or sit them down and tell them to get over it, apologize, and move on.
IMO.
Morning Ellie. I think it’s a good thing they are moving back. I wish them the best.
I am afraid they will expect a lot – protection and probably will try to make their way back into royal duties. I think that one of the reasons is that they are running out of money and won’t sell anything to help themselves. Harry hasn’t really done anything to earn a living and she tries something new all the time I wish them well but hope they won’t cause any more scandal.
Morning

Morning Ardy
Dennis makes angel food cakes for family get togethers. We serve with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. He uses Betty Crocker mix. They have cut back on how much mix is in the box – so cakes don’t get as high 😦
So many products have done that. Of course the price never goes down
Yum, good.mor ing
