- Both eaglets fledged: June 18. DH4 left the nest at about 5:45 a.m., while DH3 also fledged later that day.

About the Decorah Eagles
The current adult pair at the Decorah Fish Hatchery is HD (Hatchery Dad) and HM2 (Hatchery Mom II). HD has occupied and defended the hatchery territory for years. HM2 became his mate after the loss of Hatchery Mom (HM), beginning another chapter in the long history of bald eagles nesting around the Decorah trout hatchery.
HD and HM2 spent much of 2025 strengthening their pair bond and working on potential nest sites. By late 2025, the pair had clearly adopted Nest N6, setting the stage for their successful 2026 nesting season.
Decorah Nest N6
N6 is the sixth nest associated with the chain of Decorah Hatchery Eagles. It sits near the Decorah Fish Hatchery and became the primary nest for HD and HM2 after the pair explored and worked on multiple nesting locations.
The Raptor Resource Project (RRP) installed cameras near both N5 and N6 while the eagles were deciding where to settle. By early December 2025, HD and HM2 had adopted N6, and the new Decorah Eagle Cam was brought online ahead of egg laying in February 2026.
What to Watch for on the Decorah Eagle Cam
The Decorah Eagle Cam can be active even outside the egg and eaglet stages of the nesting season. HD and HM2 may return to N6 to perch, inspect the nest, defend their territory, or begin moving sticks and nesting material as another breeding season approaches.
Activity often comes in bursts. Long quiet stretches can be followed by an eagle arrival, vocal exchange, food delivery, territorial encounter, or sudden round of nest work. Early morning and late afternoon can be especially interesting times to check the cam, although eagle activity can occur throughout the day.
Decorah Eagle Nesting Season Timeline
- Fall: pair bonding, territory defense, and increasing nest work may begin.
- Winter: nest preparation and courtship become more intense as breeding season approaches.
- February: HD and HM2 laid their two 2026 eggs on February 17 and February 21.
- Late March: DH3 and DH4 hatched on March 27 and March 29.
- Spring: eaglets grow rapidly while the adults deliver food and protect the nest.
- Early summer: young eagles begin branching, exercising their wings, and preparing for first flight.
- Post-fledge: juveniles remain around the territory while improving their flight and feeding skills before eventually dispersing.

I’ve had issues on and off with the electronics in my car for a year now. The Sync system and Car Play and stuff like that. Things would work on and off or not at all. I tried to install an update for the rear view mirror on the screen. It wouldn’t install, so I signed up for the mobile tech to come out and do it. Well he couldn’t install the update either. Al lot of things weren’t working when he left. So today the dealership picked my Edge and took it in. The service manager called me and… Read more »
Hi CA, YOU are right about technology…..it sure keeps us on our toes.
Hi CA, ditto Ardyth, agree with you ~ Technology keep me confused! 🙄
Hope the vehicle will be ready tomorrow and All Works just fine.
Hi BB
It can be very frustrating at times.
Bot, I couldn’t agree more! If it wasn’t for my DH nothing would get updated. I don’t know how to do any of it.
Very sorry to hear of Dollys passing. Sad, thought she was a great lady. I got my stuff done and met Mike for ice cream, had coffee Carmel, choc chip. Now its not settling in my tummy and I ha v e headache, ugh

Today did not go as I planned or hoped. I was supposed to have my Mohs surgery. I got up early, showered and left. THe place I had to go to is about 1.5 hours away. They brought me into the room to numb and prep me. They looked at the back of my head and couldn’t find the spot. It had completely healed. They said I was a good healer. They opened my records to look at the picture that my dermatologist here should have taken to mark the spot. Well they called her office and they looked in… Read more »
Oh gosh Becki!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not be happy!! I didnt know you were having Mohs surgery.
😳
Well darn Becki . Wasted day, hope at least it was a nice scenic drive. Expensive tho. Sorry that happened to you
Oh no Becki !!! I’m so sorry, oh gosh, 🤗 I would be Very UN-happy too!
That is very unprofessional on your dermatologist’s part. How would the next person know what to look for without a photo. Not to mention three hours of driving! Sorry you have to wait so long to get it taken care of.
I would’ve went berserk. Good thing you’re such a nice person. This is so incredibly wrong.
They were very sympathetic and nice to me. It wasn’t their fault. I will be calling the local derm and having a conversation with them.😀
Good grief, was she sure it was cancer? And why no photo? So the actual dermatologist doesn’t do Mohs? This has got to be frustrating. And a long wasted drive.
OH boy Becki. I would be ticked too!
Dolly Parton died today at age 80. RIP 😥Dolly!!
