The females egg laying duties usually start in mid to late January with hatching beginning about 35 days later and then Fledging in June. After fledging they will remain Juveniles for about 2 years before becoming adult eagles and will not have fully matured feathers till about 5 years after fledging.
This eagle camera has pan and zoom functionality which gives you an excellent view of the nest. In 2012 Hurricane Sandy’s 90mph winds destroyed the upper half of the nest tree and the nest itself. Once the Eagles returned thankfully they found a new nest tree and decided to build a new nest about 100ft away from the old one in a Sycamore tree.

Good morning Duke Farm family.
7 degrees here in Bergenfield this morning. I feel so bad for Mrs. D sittinging in the cold, wish I could give them a heater to keep a little warm.
Hi JG, cant wait for warmer temps, stay warm
HAHAHAHAHA… JG!
Fresh grasses for the nest😍
😍
Eggs are down deep
A lot more grass is visible around the eggs in your photo today. Wish there had been that much of a grassy boundary around the eggs last night.
Im sure the eggs are OK, what a storm, we got 10″ snow and freezing rain on top. Everything is ice, hope you are ok
We got 10 inches of snow too with a few hours of sleet and freezing rain on top. I basically have the same weather as the nest area. I think that some areas of south jersey got more ice than us because of the warm air that pushed up from the South. We didn’t lose power at all. I live in an apartment, so they plowed and shoveled the walks while I stayed inside and kept warm. They cleared everything in the middle of the night after the storm ended so that it wouldn’t all freeze over. Roads weren’t too… Read more »
I want some snow…
😘
😊
The mom got up for a couple of minutes around 9 pm. When she went back down to sit on the eggs, her talons were sliding down the snow mound and pushing the snow right next to the eggs. Not much grass is visible there. She must have been getting cold because she got up, called out for her mate and left the nest several times, but since I don’t know how to identify these two eagles, I couldn’t tell if the other eagle ever came to take over.
The snow/sleet finally stopped, and by midnight, there was a little more grass visible around the eggs. Not really any place to roll the eggs though, because the eggs would just be rolled into the mound of snow.
The parent is sleeping now. Hope all of the eggs survived.
Oh MOM, hardly see you!!! Mom finally broke the snow at 850am to roll the eggs💗
She becomes so still that I wonder if she froze, but then her eye blinks, so I know she’s okay.
CHAMPION! 😘
They were uncovered less than 2 mins😎
