The females egg laying duties usually start in mid to late January with hatching beginning about 35 days later and then Fledging in June. After fledging they will remain Juveniles for about 2 years before becoming adult eagles and will not have fully matured feathers till about 5 years after fledging.
This eagle camera has pan and zoom functionality which gives you an excellent view of the nest. In 2012 Hurricane Sandy’s 90mph winds destroyed the upper half of the nest tree and the nest itself. Once the Eagles returned thankfully they found a new nest tree and decided to build a new nest about 100ft away from the old one in a Sycamore tree.
2025 Important Dates at the Duke Farms Eagle Nest
In 2025, the Duke Farms bald eagle pair laid three eggs on January 17, January 20, and January 23. All three eggs successfully hatched in late February, with eaglets emerging on February 25, February 27, and February 28. The eaglets were later officially named H57, H58, and H59, continuing the Duke Farms naming tradition.

At 6:16pm, the parent flew in with a bird. Blizzy wasn’t there, so the parent started to de-feather the bird. Then the parent heard Blizzy squeeing, so the parent put the bird down and started rearranging the sticks in the nest. Blizzy flew in and grabbed the bird with his left talon really fast.
After the parent left, Blizzy took the bird up to the branch, de-feathered it, ate it, and then left.
Didn’t see or hear the parents or Blizzy from noon and on. No food today, yesterday, or the day before, unless he was fed off the nest. Would be nice if Blizzy would leave on his journey with a full crop, not with an empty crop.
Blizzy flew in at 6:07. Squee’d for the parents, looked for scraps in the nest, and left after about 5 minutes.
Blizzy flew to the branch at 6:43 pm. He waited 20 minutes and then left.
At 8:55pm the parent flew in with Blizzy. The parent stayed on the branch and called out to the other parent. Blizzy checked out the nest and was upset that the parent didn’t bring anything.
He flew at the parent. The parent then left and flew up to their usual night roosting spot behind the nest tree.
Blizzy saw that there was a dried up piece of fish in the nest, so he flew down and grabbed the fish.
A minute later, a parent flew in with some food. I can’t tell what it is.
Blizzy ate that mystery food.
Then he went back to the dried up fish, but he didn’t eat it. He was carrying it around in the nest.
He flew up to the branch with the fish. One of the nails of his talon accidentally grabbed a stick too (lol). He brought the fish back down to the nest, and then he left.
At 11:51, a parent flew in with a partial fish for Blizzy’s lunch.
Blizzy’s crop looked great after lunch!
Then at 3:44, a parent brought a piece of either fish or eel. Couldn’t say for sure what it was.
Blizzy flew in and was eating that.
At 8:06 pm, a parent came with nothing in their talons. It’s possible that the parent was planning to eat nestovers that Blizzy didn’t finish eating at the 3:44 feeding (Blizzy was eating at the bottom of the video at the time, so I couldn’t see if he finished the food or not).
Blizzy flew in, mantled, and ate. He was eating in the same spot that he had been eating at 3:44 pm (out of cam view).
The dad flew in with a nice big eel for Blizzy’s breakfast. The mom arrived shortly after.
Blizzy didn’t show up, so the mom flew away with the eel. Didn’t hear Blizzy squeeing, so I think he didn’t get any. 😞
This afternoon, the parent brought something small, a partial fish? Blizzy claimed it and ate.
