Fort St. Vrain Eagle Cam
Watch live cams broadcasting the Fort St. Vrain Bald Eagles nest. This eagle pair(Ma & PA) usually lay eggs in late February to early March. The eggs then hatch after about 34-36 days in early to mid April. The young juvenile eagles usually fledge sometime in June or July.
It’s known that Ma eagle hatched in 2002 at a nest about 45 miles away from this one. Ma is 23 years old! We don’t know the males age.

The nest is about 9ft around and 8ft deep. It sits about 56ft up in the air in a cottonwood tree and weighs around 2500lbs. The nest is located next to the St. Vrain River near Platteville, CO, on property owned by Xcel Energy. The age of the nest is unknown, but we do know that the Rapture Resource Project first put a camera up in the nest tree back in 2003 and the nest was well established at that time.

Some sleet, rain…
Happy May Day and enjoy the eagles. I just heard a news report from Alaska. They want people to stop feeding the bald eagles, and I can see why. It can be very tempting but we don’t want the eagles dependent on people.
Yes, and Alaska should have plenty of fish for the eagles to catch. I guess that some people start to think of the eagles like a household bird/pet, but they are wild and they know how to survive. It’s against the federal law to feed eagles, except for rescue centers or avian vets/hospitals who obtain federal approval to care for an injured eagle.

Scary 😮 They just had a rescue at the Fraser Point nest of an eaglet that fell out of the nest at night time in the dark. The poor thing held onto the railing and tried to pull him/herself back into the nest, but it was too young and not strong enough. Fortunately, there was no injury from falling, so they placed the eaglet back in the nest and it was doing fine.
Oh no, but so glad was able to get back onto safer area in the nest.
Ryder is still there in the F.P. nest and the eaglets are all looking good.
I forgot about this nest, but things are looking good, they are going into their third week now…first one hatched on Easter Sunday

GM Mary. Happy Tuesday. I never have seen both Mom and Dad on the nest at one time. Probably because I am not watching enough?
Hi dot, They were both there this morning (photo). At this age of the eaglets, the mom usually stays on the nest guarding and feeding them. The dad only stops in briefly to drop off food for the mom and eaglets, and sometimes to bring a stick or grasses for the nest. Click on ‘You Tube’ on the bottom right of the SPO video.
