Courtship and nest preparation often begin in late fall, with activity increasing through winter. The eagles may bring in sticks, strengthen the nest edges, and arrange softer materials in the center as the breeding season approaches.

As egg laying gets closer, the adults typically create a softer nest bowl using grasses and other plant material. Historically, eggs at the MN DNR Eagle Cam have often arrived in February, although timing can vary from year to year.
2026 MN DNR Eagle Cam Season:
The 2026 season brought three eaglets to the Minnesota DNR nest. The first egg appeared on February 16, and the first chick likely hatched on March 26. By March 30, the cam showed three eaglets in the nest.
DNR staff banded all three eaglets on May 11 and identified each as female. One eaglet later spent time in care after a ground rescue and returned to the wild on June 18. Another eaglet fledged that same day, while the final eaglet left the nest on June 22.
The 2026 nesting season is now complete. The cameras may be offline at times while the Minnesota DNR performs maintenance and prepares for the next season.

The MN DNR EagleCam is part of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Nongame Wildlife Program. The program works to conserve, manage, and study wildlife species that are not traditionally hunted or fished.
Minnesota’s Nongame Wildlife Program has supported conservation efforts involving bald eagles, common loons, trumpeter swans, and many other native species.
Wildlife Around the Eagle Cam:
Bald eagles are not the only animals that may appear around the nest. Over the years, raccoons and other wildlife have visited the nest tree, sometimes triggering loud nighttime reactions from the adult eagles.
The Habitat Cam can also provide a broader look at wildlife activity around the original EagleCam location, even when the eagles are spending time elsewhere.

What a fun surprise to see and read there are.3 chicks! Congratulations, MN-DNR
DNR staff were alerted to the chick’s arrival and confirmed the sighting, thanks to the many keen EagleCam viewers watching closely. Based on observations, staff believe the first chick hatched Thursday, March 26, and was spotted in the nest later that evening.
At this point it was not possible to confirm whether the pair has a single chick or multiple chicks. But on Monday, March 30, DNR staff confirmed there are three chicks in the nest.

it looks to me that wherever they decided to mount the camera was not a good place. Way too much sway and it also looks like they are having trouble panning to the nest. Hopefully it can be fixed.
It will also be hard to see the nest when the leaves come out-can’t do anything now that there’s a egg. Just have to see how it goes
They move it to another tree closer.. but not on the tree of the nest 🪹 they didn’t want to scare them away with a camera.. if you remember when they put the cam on their original nest, they moved right away and built a new nest. It is what it is.
