Five fish delivered on Tuesday! Irv brought 3 and Stella brought 2. All of the eaglets had some fish. From the nest updates – a video of tail feathers comparison of Maz, Sid, and Hutch.

Fish delivery at 12:43. Maz claimed it, then Hutch and Maz had a tug-o-war over it. Maz won. She really needed to eat. Hutch and Sid watched Maz eat hoping for an opportunity to steal the fish.

After Maz ate most of the fish, she made the mistake of grabbing the fish with her beak and then putting it down without stepping on it. Maz is on the left, Hutch is at the bottom, and Sid is at the top of the picture.

Sid saw that mistake, and went for the fish (photo). Sid grabbed that last piece from Maz and ate it. Hutch watched Sid’s maneuver and he is learning techniques for survival from his siblings. Hutch tried to steal the fish from Sid but couldn’t get close enough, so he gave up and looked around the nest for scraps. There were no other food deliveries today.

Better food deliveries today. At 11:04 Sid ate some food that was brought. At 13:13 second delivery, not sure what it was. Hutch claimed it. Sid tried to steal it from Hutch, but Hutch held onto it and ate it. At 14:51 third delivery, a nice fish (photo). No one else was around. Hutch claimed it and began eating. After Hutch ate about half of the fish, Maz flew in and tried to steal the fish from Hutch. Maz was unsuccessful, and she ate tiny scraps from around the nest.

At 16:37 Maz was in the nest, Hutch was on a branch. Then Sid flew into the nest, so Hutch also flew off the branch into the nest (probably thinking it was a food delivery, lol). There was a scuffle and Maz literally kicked Sid out of the nest, but not Hutch (probably was upset that Sid was getting a lot of the food). Hutch bowed in submission and moved away from Maz and Sid.

Maz laid down in the nest while the other two perched on branches. At 16:56 all 3 were squeeing for a food delivery. Maz finally gave up and left at 18:38. Hutch and Sid left an hour later. Then the parent brought a fourth food delivery. Sid flew in after the parent and ate that food (why am I not surprised). No other eaglet came. Too bad Maz didn’t wait longer in the nest. Hope that she flies in first thing tomorrow and waits until food is delivered. (Photo – Maz in the nest, Hutch on the higher branch, Sid… Read more »

Not very much food being brought for 3 large eaglets. Sunday – 2 fish (Sid ate both), Monday – 2 fish (mostly Hutch, some Sid), Tuesday – 1 fish (Hutch ate it), Wednesday – 2 fish (Sid ate both), Thursday – no food delivered. Friday – 1 fish (Sid ate it). It’s odd. Before any eaglet fledged, Maz and Hutch got most of the food. Now Sid is getting most of the food. When Hutch returned to the nest the first time, Sid pushed him off and spread his wings so that Hutch couldn’t come back up onto the nest.… Read more »

According to the chat, that is Sid laying in the nest tonight. Maz and Hutch didn’t return to the nest.
