Good Morning! Sunny and 42 going up to 72. We are badly in need of rain now. Wildfire danger is elevated with our severe drought conditions, which is scary. A statewide burn ban is in effect for all North Carolina counties prohibiting all open burning, effective until further notice due to high fire danger. Cooking fires are permitted only in portable gas stoves or grills, provided they are attended. Charlotte Water customers are currently under voluntary water usage restrictions. Today I need to pay a few bills that we chose to not have automatically deducted. All of our utilities are… Read more »

Hi Kathy,
Probably a very good idea to conserve water at this point. Hopefully most people will comply.
You have the cool down today too, I am grateful for it, outside it is beautiful now, comfortable to be out.

Kathy, i’m so sorry about the Fire warning; I can certainly sympathize. Colo has started water restrictions; i expect them to be more stringent as the weeks go by with no moisture. 😔

Good morning!! I went to church yesterday and then stopped at the WALMART neighborhood market since I needed heavy cream and bagels. It is on my way home from church and I didnt want to deal with MY Walmart this time since it is under construction and changed weekly. Someone in the Ethel AARP group listed a link to a company that buys fur coats. All you had to do it have the front and back side picture taken with it on and text it and they would make an offer and pay for shipping. I would like to sell mom’s… Read more »

Sorry your not having good luck selling some of your belongings. I read that younger people ( than us ) do not like the old so much anymore. I read an article the other day that people cannot give away those big China Cabinets that had been so popular for years. Many of the old china and silverware not so valuable anymore.

Yes I have been reading about the younger generation, they want less stuff. They arent sentimental like us I guess. Anything I have will be the end when i am gone…..no kids and they probably wouldnt care anyways.

more and more young people are getting into thrifting now and some even decorating like their grandmas did..so some of them might buy some vintage china and other things.

I tried to get a good picture of the sunset last night, my camera did not pick it up as well but it is still kinda pretty.

Good morning,

We had a very windy day which brought in no rain but cooler temperatures. It is only 44 this morning going up to 72 with sun.
It had become very hot and humid so I am very happy to have this short cool down before it heats up mid-week.
I did a pedicure and manicure and just a personal relaxing day yesterday.

A very scary picture of one of the Copperhead snake in the yard of someone who posted on this community FB. Time to head North!

Hi Jenn, I always loved snakes but as I have aged not so much, lol !
I never do my nails except to cut the nails and the new varnish that’s about now damages my nails it may look good but getting it off is a nightmare so as no one can see my nails are bare !
I bet you are counting down now soon be back in Maine ! 👌

I rarely polish my nails just once in awhile. I do trim them with clippers and file them with the emery board.
I like to keep polish on my toes in the months of summer when I ware open toed crocs and sandals.
Yes, I am counting down the days, we leave Thursday early morning.

Hi Beryl
The only nail care I do is trim my nails. I never polish mine. I rarely used nail polish except in my twenties but that was usually clear and not a color.

Morning Jenn,
You dont have snakes in Maine? So what is the latest news on the people buying your house?
How is your sister doing?

Jenn
April 20, 2026 6:48 am

We do not have poisonous snakes. We are still waiting for when the closing will be, it won’t be this week for sure. Deena lost most of her hair and her DIL came and shaved her head. She is wearing the hat/scarfs that her daughter bought her. She had made many chemo scarfs in the past and donated to hospitals in Florida and Maine but she likes the ones Pammy bought her. She cannot eat many foods she feels sick to think of them. She lost 9 lbs. after the first chemo so she has to get weight back on.… Read more »

I think losing your hair has to be the worst feeling. I know it would be for me.
Sorry she has to go through chemo.

They somehow hurried getting their bank assessor to come and do what he has to for their loan. They went Friday to pay for the service and we had a call the guy will be here around 11:30 this morning. I never knew that to happen so fast! Positive news for us.

Hi Jenn
Copperheads are quite common where we live. Fortunately we have not seen any recently but we always need to be on the lookout while in ou yard and gardens.

I wondered if you had a problem with them Kathy. It is fortunate that you are not seeing them recently and they may be locating in other areas?

Good morning, another sunny day and I am going to kill some weeds, my neighbour left a space which is his but because his fence blocks it its up to me to buy the weed killer which makes me a bit annoyed such is life ! Not feeling good but getting used to that feeling now sadly but I do long for a real person to talk to, sorry my comment are like this but its my life now and I would change if I could and its why I don’t post as who wants me droning on ! Hi Beryl,
I saw your picture of Steve, so good to see him. It was the best of times when Steve and Rachel were having a thriving nest at HI.
What a pretty assortment of colors in your image.💙💜💗
It always makes me happier to be outside and puttering or just sitting watching the birds and nature and knitting or reading. They say a just a 10-15 minutes walk outside, even in overcast weather, can lift the brains feel good endorphins to make us happier. It works for me!

alway good to see your posts, don’t worry about not having much to say..I’m sure you are careful about the kind of weed killer you use, or hope so since it’s so bad for birds, butterflies, bees etc and even people, of course

Sounds like that is a better time to go out early, before the school crowd starts driving through.
I am sure Glenda will be happy to have her hair appointment. 😉
