You are watching Decorah Goose cams at the N2B and N1 nests. There are currently 2 constructed eagle nests at the fish hatchery. They have been named N1 and N2B. N1 was rebuilt by RRP in September 2021.
Which nest is which:
N1 has more sticks on the nest, no wood chips and the Y branch. N2B has wood chips on the nest. The camera switches back and forth between the two.
This pair of Canadian Geese decided to nest at the N2B nest in the spring of 2022, 2023, 2024 and again this year(2025). The two nests are about 700ft apart.
Mama goose will begin incubation once she is done laying eggs(should be around 5 to 7 total).
Incubation lasts about 28 days before we see a hatch. The goslings will remain in the nest for up to 48 hours before jumping out. If you don’t see any eggs it’s because she covers them up when away from the nest.
This camera was Set up and is maintained by the Raptor Resource Project, a non-profit organization for the preservation of falcons, eagles, ospreys, hawks, and owls.
@HNF lots of drama at the goose nest the last couple nights, read the comments down below to March 22 to catch up…here’s a brief summary… a raccoon has been trying his best to get the eggs, I’m sure he will be back tonight, the male goose sustained an injury last night when the raccoon got a hold of his foot, I’m pretty sure this is him trying not to put weight on it today….before all this there was an intruder in the nest that laid an egg there that got tossed to the side and one of the original… Read more »
yeah, I thought you were on a trip or something bc you are usually on top of things and I hadn’t seen you anywhere on here in a few days, sorry to hear you were sick but glad you are doing better…also sad for this goose nest it seems like it was doomed from the start
The raccoon is back being very aggressive, He is taking the nest apart.. Sticks are flying. So sad.
Oh No
The raccoon is back
😠
Ummmm. not the mama! But was here last year.
this is the other nest not the one with eggs, but I do remember a goose with a speckled neck last year
Mom must be out to lunch.

Hi Deborah. I’ve been out with the influenza B but feeling better now. I will take a look thank you.

yeah the goose didn’t have the best of luck. Those raccoons have no quit.
the eggs are safe for now, will the raccoon succeed tonight
I am afraid if the raccoon is back and keeps digging up from the bottom of the nest the whole nest will fall apart.
yeah, it looked like that last night, you could see the side of the nest it was in was getting pretty shaky
