What is the best time to watch ship arrivals?
Morning and late afternoon often bring multiple transits, but arrivals happen all day. Watch when winds turn onshore for dramatic entries.
What does the horn salute mean at the Duluth canal?
It’s the traditional Ambassador Salute: three long blasts and two short blasts exchanged between ship and bridge as a friendly greeting.
How can I tell a Laker from a salty?
Lakers commonly have a self-unloading boom on deck and run Great Lakes routes; salties (ocean-going ships) tend to have deck cranes and different hull lines.
Where is the Duluth Canal Cam located?
The camera overlooks the Duluth Ship Canal and Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN, providing a live view of vessels entering and leaving the harbor.
Can I rewatch a specific arrival?
Use the stream’s DVR/rewind if available, and check our recent posts for timestamps, photos, and ship details.
