Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good evening. I saw y’all were having a good conversation about rabbits and wrens, and didn-t want to butt in. I started watching, on TV, about the US Steel eagle cam, and how one of the 3 eaglets had been fed hook, line and and sinker in the nest, was removed for surgery a few days ago, and was returned to the nest today. I was waiting on the video to show when either of the parents returned and saw it, but haven’t found that part of the video. Still looking. Goodnight to all who have gone to bed. 😍😘… Read more »

You are in big trouble. Wet noodles for you. What do you mean you didn’t want to butt in. 😡 💩 🤬 🤭 🤣 . You are a bona fide member of this chat, therefore it is impossible to butt in. Good grief more fishing stuff swallowed. We just had Big Bears Jackie swallow a sinker. Hope she got it up. I’ll be going to bed soon.

You guys had such a nice rhythm going, I just couldn’t plow in. I did place “likes” here and there in the posts. I enjoyed the stories. Then I heard the eaglet story in the background, and . . . Sorry, I did kind of get involved there. And yes, more fishing stuff. Getting scary. Jackie seems fine, and this little eaglet had surgery, and was gone for about 3 days. Seems to be doing just great, was very good at taking food from the parent.

I saw your likes. I’m going to say good night and get ready for bed. Good night dear Karen. I hope you sleep well with peaceful thoughts and dreams. Love and hugs, and that includes precious Dutchess. See you tomorrow. I’ll be gone most of the afternoon, but will be around morning and evening.

Thank you, Debbie. ❤️ so soothing. I saw that you and Jo are going to have work done on her vehicle tomorrow and Jo is going to have some tests. But not tomorrow. I will be thinking about you guys. And I’ll be waiting to hear from you when you get back. Thanks for not throwing too many noodles. I love you honey, take care of yourself. 😘🙏💕

One of the parents finally arrived, probably after looking down at the nest for quite a while, flying overhead, wondering why they now had three eaglets instead of two. I think this is what was happening, as I saw two or three little beaks keep turning to the right, and then left, simultaneously, as if watching an air show. 🤣Evidently, the parent finally put it all together and landed. The parent then started feeding the two eaglets who it knew definitely belonged there, but had to watch for a few minutes to see if the third one did. Finally, the… Read more »

There was a little rabbit outside eating bird seed that had fallen to the ground. I don’t know if it would be classified as a baby or not, maybe even one from the nest the lawn service found.

If it was just from the nest it would be small, did they mow over the nest? If so they probably didn’t survive, the mower sucks them right up and destroys the nest. Maybe they were out of the nest already?

Oh that’s so good, I remember the guy mowing at my grade school he mowed over a nest, there were little rabbit bodies all over the ground, I was crying at the sight.😪 but I found one alive and I brought it home. We raised it and when it got bigger we let it go in our back yard. My Mom knew about taking care of the rabbit. She had rabbits when she was a child and knew at the time how to take care of it. and what to feed it, it still drank milk so we used condensed… Read more »

To really do the things I want. I heard a house Wren today, my favorite little singer😍They are a tiny bird about the size of a humming bird, was thinking when they show up usually I see a hummer😘
