Loon Nest Live Cams

The nests are in a shallow bog area of a lake in New Hampshire. Nesting season starts in May. Once eggs are laid incubation occurs for 28 days before hatching. The local time is displayed on the bottom left of the videos. For more information about this camera or to make a donation please visit loon.org.

Nesting Information:

1st egg laid 5/24 at 10:45 pm. 2nd egg laid 5/27 at 11:14 am. Estimated hatch June 22-24th 2019. On 5/28, one of the eggs was kicked out of the nest by the male. Remaining egg hatched and sadly the chick was taken by an Eagle.

Cam 1 male kicked out one of the eggs! This happened with our osprey pair in Osoyoos BC- google research shows this can happen when the male has rivals for the breeding of females and wants to ensure that any offspring are his. OR, as I thought when the first osprey egg was kicked out- that the male was merely clumsy. I wonder if there’s any Loon research on this topic.
