About the nest:

The Decorah North Eagles nest is located on a private property just north of Decorah, Iowa. The net is situated in a white oak tree in a small forest near a valley and a stream. Courtship begins in October with mating starting in late January-February. Egg laying/hatching occurs from mid to late February to April.

The Decorah Eagles first egg of 2026 arrived on a cold and blustery winter evening. On February 17, as the wind shook the branches around the nest, HM2 stepped carefully into the nest bowl. She moved pieces of grass and nesting material with her beak, making sure everything was just right. Then, not long after settling in, she laid the first egg of the season. Now I read that if it weren’t for this situation, the egg should have been born between February 11-14… Sorry….uffff There was no egg…

yes that was their prediction…now I’ve read (RRP) that UM and DNF have been copulating several times through the past days..they havent seen them copulating but they heard the sounds…sheeesss
so that could be the reason why the UM doesnt leave
