Good Morning! Cloudy and 70 going up to 80 with only a slight chance for rain. Craig accomplished a lot towards his landscape gardening goals for his 4-day weekend. He plans to work on his next project today. Yesterday I took it easy. Today I need to do some laundry and I hope to make more progress on my home office project. Last evening after dinner I had a really cool experience. I entered our enclosed porch from the kitchen and while I closed the sliding glass door I heard a very loud Carolina Wren. It sounded quite close so… Read more »
Oh Kathy, what a gift that you were there at the right time to see this Wern. I think they are the sweetest little birds.
No wonder you heard her singing, they can be very loud. 😊
Craig has worked a ‘labor of love’ on his 4 day weekend. Spring a busy time for gardening and planting but so worth it when
everything takes off.💗
It was very special to first hear, see and photograph the Wren 💝
Excellent photo under the circumstances.😘
Thank you ❤️
Oh Kathy I think that’s a great picture.
Thank you ❤️
When I was hanging clothes on the line I saw this baby praying mantis, maybe an inch long…it looks bigger in the one picture because i zoomed in.
So cute! 🥰
So sweet ❤️
Good Morning Memorial Day Yesterday was a beautiful Pentecost service with most everyone wearing red. Then I went to Walmart. Came home, put things away and did laundry. Then watched recorded shows and relaxed. I could tell the humidity had risen because the cooler wasnt cooling like it should…..not bad but you could feel the humidity in the house. It was at 19% which doesnt sound like much and it was 95°. Then it got real windy and we got some very light rain, mostly sprinkles. I am going to head to the cemetery in about half an hour (5:20am)… Read more »
Hi Ardy,
Pretty flowers, what are they called ? You are going early to the cemetery it should be peaceful then. 💗
I can see that it would have felt quite warm with the temperature and humidity level. Is this early for humidity where you live?
Not really too early because in June the monsoons start building up and that brings humidity.
Hi Ardy
What beautiful flowers. I’m not familiar with what kind of flowers these are.
Gazania splendens Daybreak Red Stripe…..The well known garden plant Gazania splendens (or “rigens”) originates in South Africa.
Thanks!
You are welcome.
Good morning, It is raining cats and dogs outside! It has been all night and is supposed to end early afternoon. There was a break in the rain so I got Danny outside quickly. Denny had to take him out at 3:30am to pee. 😏 I ordered 2 hummingbird feeders from Amazon, I got the disc type with the ant moats that I like best. I bought a different kind at Walmart yesterday but decided to return that and get the type I like which is easier to handle. Like Kathy, having 2 I can have one clean and ready… Read more »
Hi Jenn
Whoa! Lots of rain for you!! I dont know what disc hummer feeders are? I have two out year round. I clean them with vinegar and water at least every two days because the sugar water gets pretty hot here. I bring both in clean and refill them and take them back out, only takes a couple of minutes. This is what I use and the bats love them in the Fall.
That looks like the kind I call it disc because it is not the tall cylinder bottle kind.
This was what I ordered.
Ok now I understand. Thanks
My mom always watched that show, I never knew about it ….I still watch it and the other one that I can never remember the name of
Was the other show Fawlty Towers with John Cleese? He was hilarious.
As Time goes by, Its my favorite
Hi Jenn.
I say we could do with that sort of cats and dogs stuff here right now.🔥
I would love to share Ice, we have had oodles of rain but I am thankful for it filling wells and watering all the new growth of plants and trees. A good time of year and Maine tends to be wetter into June then usually it is dryer July and August but sometimes that doesn’t happen.
Hi Jenn
I’m glad you like my idea of having spare feeders. I like being able to quickly switch out the feeders to fresh nectar. That way my hummers are never without their juice bars at my house 😊
‘Keeping Up Appearances’ was always a favorite show of mine 😄
Good Monday Bank Holiday morning. I am complaining now a most uncomfortable night could barely get a wink of sleep so humid. More of the same today hot and humid temp forecast of 91F this afternoon and barely a breath of wind to cool things down. Just to think that a few days ago my CH boiler was firing up in the morning. At least i am saving energy now.lol. Tomorrow will be a record for this time of year with a forecast temp of 93F. Then thank goodness it will be getting a bit cooler for the rest of… Read more »
Good morning Ice,
Wow, 90’s are very hot especially when your not used to it. I am sorry you had such a rough night sleeping. 🥱
At least your saving on heating.
😬
Hi Jenn.
It is so hot now and I have a vest and shorts on now.
I would have nothing on but my window faces the green, would not want to upset any passers bye.lol.
Tomorrow or today they are saying it could be the highest temp ever recorded in this counrey.🙄😘
The highest recorded temperature, that is wild ! 🥵
Well, you cold take the vest off….LOL
That would probably really frighten someone.lol.
Hi Ice
I’m so sorry the temp and humidity is already uncomfortable 😞
HiKathy.
Well hopefully today and tomorrow will be the hottest days and then it will cool down to something more comfortable.😘
I certainly hope so for your sake 😘
Howdy-do Lovely Early Bird People / Memorial Day 2026
I remember Gramma calling Memorial Day Decoration Day and it was always May 30th. The Fed deciding it should be a 3-day weekend removed the somberness that Memorial Day deserves. 😔
Didn’t feel like watching the war-stories on TCM Sunday; glad Hallmark had the 3-episode Matchmaker series on with Danica McKellar — murder and mayhem included; may as well have watched the war-movies 🙄
Hi Pam
Craig and I are in the midst of watching reruns of ‘The Expanse’ on Prime most evenings. We’re in Season 3 of 6 so far.
Hello….last night my sister and I played the Crazy Cat Lady game 😀on the porch…today was church (wore red), then a walk through the vendor market with Bane, then DH grilled at home. We ate on the porch…just now my sister came to pick up some food for our mom and take it to her..my sister was visiting our brother..she’s coming back to eat here and not sure yet if we are watching a movie or what. It’s getting a bit late so maybe if it’s something short (to watch)….have to get laundry out of the dryer now…good night!
