UPDATE on my two missing solar power banks for charging our cell phones. Craig actually found them when he got home from work. They were at the very back of a shelf that’s part of my bedside cabinet. They were really hidden from view but he used a flashlight which made it easier to see them. Both of the power banks are charging using cable charging cords since the sun is not shining.

Everyone, please stay safe; dry and warm — it’s just awful 🙏 It was plus 12/feels like minus 4 and a dusting of snow when i got up; at 3p/MST, it’s plus 9/feels like minus 9. I put towels in my bathroom window and closed the door; hope to keep the cold in there. Chuck went to the store yesterday for the big 3: bread, milk, tp; then made enchiladas for everyone 😋 think he just wanted to turn the oven on 😘 He went out this morning & started all the vehicles; 2 are garaged, 2 are not 😎 They do like finding… Read more »

Hello…it’s brrrrrr outside…Kathy, I understand the anxiety…mostly here it’s the way below zero temps and I worry about people and animals, especially animals because there are warming centers for people. ..and last night I couldn’t find my kitty for awhile (he never goes out but couldn’t find him so)…told Dh to call the caregiver, he couldn’t leave until we find the kitty and I was serious..we did find him after a half hour or so but it took me awhile to calm down, I was so upset. I finally was able to sit..and drink some calming tea and watch TCM…DH… Read more »

The monster storm begins today.

The big winter storm starts Friday in Texas and will end Sunday in New England.
Better off with six inches of snow than a half inch of ice. Freezing rain causes huge issues from dangerous driving to snapped trees and power outages.

Good morning, The trash truck came through to empty our garbage bins at 4:30 and I could not get back to sleep for awhile. They come to our area so early ( or late since they work overnight I guess ). I did have weird dreams after I fell back asleep. Yesterday was a beautiful day, it was sunny and was about 70 degrees. I wanted to be outside and enjoy it so after cleaning in the morning ( washed some inside windows and dusting, etc. ) I went out and took a couple walks and sat on the porch… Read more »

If this would be only a snow event I wouldn’t be quite as concerned. It’s the amount of freezing rain that could cause power widespread power outages. Here are screenshots from our local news station of our current forecasts for Saturday and Sunday. At this time, the winter storm will begin Saturday afternoon with snow and sleet before it changes over to mainly freezing rain overnight Saturday. Unfortunately, significant icing is possible all day Sunday.

Ice is the worse part I think Kathy, very scary. Tomorrow we start getting rain only then turning to ice overnight as it looks like now.
