Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Rain barrels here to, I’m going to look up why? has to do with water rights, if I wanted rain water to water my vegetables that supplies me food I’m going to collect some, its not like its coming from a resrvoir? it would just fall on the ground anyhow if you didn’t collect some of it, they don’t own the clouds or what the clouds do…

Does Colorado have chronic drought that made this law? If not I think it is sorta dumb.

julie

Reply to  KyDebbie

Its a water rights thing and that’s been going on a long time out west. They make money off of it-the water rights people take a majority of the water-even when its so low there is none so they go after the rain water. That whole system needs to be over hauled. The laws are old and there’s not as much water but they take the same large amount because its what’s owed to them regardless of a drought so less should be taken, because there isn’t any

I’m thinking it would depend on the quantity. A barrel or so, for a small garden, might not matter for the summer. But collecting a whole lot of it, which could go to waste, would not be good. Collecting it and selling it would also be bad, in my opinion. I can understand the rules in that matter. We have frequent droughts. Just my thoughts.

Just have to put it on before bed. I can’t remember how many pieces. The main piece was a strap that goes around your chest. Seems I wore a thing on my finger that measures oxygen like doctor offices use. And a thing that looks like it is to delivery oxygen but is really just to measure respiration.

Back already. It went exactly as I suspected. Very fast! I wish I had a stop watch on. I managed to say/ask what I wanted but replies were fast, a little technical, I said more, She said let’s do a sleep study, Boom! She stood up and walking to the door like come and pointed what direction I should go to leave. Before I said my last little bit she was already ordering machine supplies, then changed to let’s order a sleep study. The nurse just did bp and oxygen. No weight, no history, no medication. Bamb!

Hi Debbie. It was exhausting, very intensive. Walking, exercise testing, diet talk, history and med notes. She will put it all together and see what help they can provide: equipment, monitoring, advice, nurse med checks, and the list goes on.

I boil my own tea bags, add a little sugar to it after draining into a pitcher, stir it up, and then add water to fill the pitcher. Then into the fridge. Sometimes, i used to pour some into washed coke bottles and slightly freeze them for home or travel. So refreshing!

Sounds good Karen. I think I should try using real tea, I might even have some now. Do you actually boil the water with the tea bags in there, or boil, then put the tea bags in there? How long do you steep them. I like a full bodied flavor.

I bring the water, about a quart, to a simmer and then put the 5 tea bags (tied together) in the pot and simmer for about 30 mins. Let sit for about 30 mins with lid on. Then pour all into 2-qt. pitcher. Then add ice cubes and stir until tea is cold, then add cold water til pitcher is full, and then put into fridge. As soon as it is all cold, I can also either pour it into ice cubed glass, to drink now, or pour into carry container with a few ice cubes. Ice cubes dilute strength,… Read more »
