Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. I just watched The Bells of St. Mary’s, the night Julie watched it. It is such a good movie!!!
Good afternoon…went to part of the Christmas concert in town, it was so beautiful…hated to leave early but had to get to the meal..good meal (I had spinach, feta, and chicken ravioli) and salad bar. After that went to FIL’s with DH and DS. FIL was surprised…DS showed him pictures and wrote on a board what they were. Today went to the music service at church and got the free chili meal (our church’s turn) in takeout container…chili, mac and cheese,brownies…hopefully now just having a quiet day here, tired and have had enough of people for awhile, lol..
oh and they all loved the Bears game!! 😀
I can’t comment on the Bears game, we are still complaining here😂

Just found out that they are naming the new female hummer, it appears they don’t think the hummer we see is Olive? you can vote for a new name on the Youtube page
So you chose Jewel? I don’t want Sunshine for obvious reasons. Sorta like Joy but Jewel makes more sense since she is emerald. I wonder how they know it isn’t Olive? She could have molted the white feather.
they talked to other bird enthusiasts who said she should still have the white feathers if it’s her…but,there are other was to tell, they could look back at other pics of her in the past and compare the chest markings

They thought there were different Bella’s but they kept the name. But then, there were other names for another bird or two. One was Diamond. She had a crooked beak.
Thats what I was told when I asked, Hummers have a short life span 3-5 years, we have been watching Olive for that long maybe she had reached her life span and we are watching one of her chicks? I like to think Olive’s family is still around😍
