Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Thanks! I got it, took a little elbow grease using a scratcher, but by gum, it came off. Won’t be doing that again 🙄

I saw this shirt on FB and thought it beautiful. Wish I knew if it was a quality shirt, not click bait. It is supposed to support Alzheimer’s.

🎉 Happy New Years Eve 🎉
CNN is showing celebrations around the world, starting at 5a/MST. I should make it to midnight/EST; 10p/MST to see the ball drop in Times Square/NY. I was there December 31, 1999. 🎊
I’ll be ordering pizza hut for pick up around 1p

From a post on Facebook from a friend:

At some point I will attempt to watch the ball drop in Times Square. This will require staying awake, which at my age feels less like celebration and more like an endurance sport. I will tell myself I’m “just resting my eyes” and wake up at 12:07, refreshed, confused, and technically in the new year.

Reminds me of ME. She writes a mostly funny article for the county newspaper I worked in 25 years. Sometimes her article is more serious and then she uses satire.

I worked in the county high school, not the newspaper.

I like the option of turning the snow on and off. I find I like it awhile, then want it off. Probably back on!
