Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Ok dear sweethearts it is past my bedtime, time to say good night, sweet dreams and peaceful thoughts. Well my thoughts haven’t been to peaceful today, but now is the time to insist on just peace. So watch a video of eaglets , puppies or kittens being cute, then dream on! Love to all and see you tomorrow.

Debbie, I didn’t realize you had an unpeaceful day today. 🙁 I looked at posts and didn’t see anything. Did I miss something? I hope you are okay and that you have a peaceful night’s sleep. Love to you. ❤️. 🙏

Karen I saw way below you asked how to do a hard shut down on a cell phone. I’ll answer up here so as not to mess up posts. Just turn your phone all the way off, wait a minute and turn it back on.

I didn’t get the chance to take care of my Mom. She died in the hospital from a broken hip at 71. It probably gives Julie peace to be able to take care of her parents somewhat. I know she wants to get back home, though. ❤️

Good evening! 🥰 Just finished reading posts and am now craving hamburger soup. 😅 Too late to make it tonight – maybe sometime this week. Nothing going on here. I paid bills and did some research today. Planning to watch the Golden Girl special. It’s on at 8 here. Thanks for the heads-up, Debbie.

Hi Karen! You’re craving hamburger soup? What a great milestone; you probably thought you’d never want to eat again. So glad you’re feeling better {{HUGS}}

Hi Pam. Thank you. 🤣 You are so right! I thought I would never be hungry again! But when I saw those pictures and heard about the beans and carrots, I started craving them. But, I didn’t have any, so I ended up eating some canned peaches and pears, along with a small container of applesauce and 2 pieces of toast. Very tasty! I just finished watching the Golden Girls special. I thought it was pretty good. ❤️

I watched it too and really enjoyed it.
The fruit/toast sounds like a better option at this point of your recovery, but the hamburg/soup can be on the back burner, so to speak 😉

I am going to find an episode to watch before I go to bed. I have always loved them so much! They will always be current (can’t think of the right word) in my opinion. I’m pretty sure hamburger soup will be the first thing I really actually cook. I’d kind of like to try what Chuck made too, that sounds really tasty and different.

Hi Karen. I like the soup made with hamburger better than stew meat. What kind of research did you do? Are you still feeling better?

Hi Debbie. I am looking into refrigerators and new linoleum for the kitchen floor. So exciting. And yes, I am feeling quite a bit better, thank you. Not whistling Dixie yet, but I’m getting there. 🤗

I haven’t bought new kitchen stuff for a long time. I’ve lived here for 40 years, and I’ve only bought a new stove and dishwasher, many moons ago. I’m kind of excited. I don’t want to spend that much money at one time, but . . .

I’m glad you are feeling better Karen. So you will need a new refrigerator. Which style will you by. Top, bottom freezer. Side by side. Etc.

Thank you Debbie. It is the worst flu I’ve ever had. I heard on the news tonight that this year’s flu is supposed to be really bad. As far as the refrigerator goes, I would like to get a GE, stand up, top freezer. Just the basics, with two crisper drawers and maybe one or two additional small drawers. As long as it works well, I don’t care too much. I would like it to be off white. They have several different words for that color. I will start getting excited as soon as I’ve seen one that I really… Read more »

The GE in the garage is working well so far. I would advise not to buy from Lowe’s.

Oh, my GEs have been great forever. They last so long, and they work so well. And, they are really easy to repair if necessary, without costing a fortune. I think I remember you having some problems Debbie, but I can’t remember what the problem with Lowe’s was.

We got a lemon refrigerator but they only will come get it if you call within a very few days, like 3 or 5. It takes that long to really know something is wrong. Then the factory warranty kicked in and they said they didn’t come to my zip code. But yet they sell GE in my county! We even had an extended warranty. So Lowe’s had to come get the refrigerator and refund us. And Lowe’s doesn’t do their own warranty work. So we bought the frig from a locally owned store that has their own local repair people.… Read more »

It would be fun to do a taste test but I think I know who would win that one. I put in fresh potatoes, celery, onion and carrot. Frozen green beans, corn, peas.

Rick put in fresh carrots, potatoes, celery and carrots and a few mushrooms. He doesnt like corn in soups and I dont really care for green beans in soup. He was going to out frozen peas in it but forgot.
Did you follow Becki’s recipe with tomato soup? I dont know if i would care for that, I have never had that.

KyDebbie

I used her recipe mostly. I did use some Italian seasoning and marjoram. I used dried minced garlic, the soup.

Hi Becki I made your soup. Jo ate it and said it was good. Wow! Usually I’m lucky to get an “it’s ok”. I made it a little different. I didn’t have any fresh garlic so I used dried minced. I put in some marjoram, bay leaf and Italian seasoning. A little sucralose, better not tell Jo that! I liked the idea of tomato soup instead of tomato sauce, paste, or even Ketchup I saw in some recipes. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I think canned soup adds to a lot of things. Remember how many chatters fixed the stove top chicken? I’ve made it several times. Your recipe is a winner. I put tomato soup in my meatloaf and it is good.
