Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. Good late morning…I was lazy this morning, not unusual in the winter…sipped my coffee, looked at my IPAD, etc..It’s cold but sunny and not windy so that’s good. Not sure what I’ll do today, this and that I guess…might see if DH wants to go to Cracker Barrel (like Debbie)..I still have a few $ on my gift card, so I’ll look in the gift shop (while DH looks at his phone, lol)…maybe get the chicken tenders and 2-3 sides, or a breakfast) but who knows what I’ll want then..if we even go. Good morning Karen Marie, these chicks don’t have a egg tooth they don’t make a pip, rather the egg shell gets really thin and cracks the egg gets banded that’s where the moisture in the egg leaks out and you can see the crack because its wet and will look darker
