Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Hello…took both dogs for short walks and it was so cold out…it’s in the 20s so should feel like a heat wave compared to what we had but I think it’s the dampness…just heated a can of soup, exciting..I’ll watch tv and read tonight.

Well the first plumber was here for two hours that fixed the toilet and the snaked from the rooftop. He had to take the toilet off because it needed a new seal and a lot of cleaning too, lots of crud under there. So I had to do minimal cleanup in the bathroom and wash the floor.
He thought someone should come out with a “light” and look down it so he is here now………I am not a happy person with workmen in my house.

Wow Ardy this has become an all day thing for you. I know you will be happy when it is finished. Are they looking for a clog in the pipe?

They are looking for sludge in all the pipes…see above under my first post…………ugh

February 4, 2026 5:16 pm

We arent done yet…..the man with the camera convinced us to have our pipes descaled because he literally showed us the sludge on the rag that is down there. Plus Rick wants to get rid of the disposal so that is $300 + for the new pipes ……when they come out Friday they are going to check out the condition of the bathrooms (toilets and showers) and if they are bad then we will have them done….$$$$
but, he is giving us a huge discount.

KyDebbie

How do they descale the pipes. So $300 just to get rid of a disposal? That doesn’t sound like a big job? I’ve never had one so I guess I don’t know. What do you suspect may be wrong with the bathrooms?

The $300+ is for the new pipes basically from both sides of the sink. I dont know exactly……….. with specialized services using hydro-jetting or mechanical tools to remove mineral, rust, and scale buildup from aging cast iron or copper pipes.
They suspect the bathroom pipes my be full of sludge too…our house was built in 1959

I’m sorry you have all this going on Ardy. Keep in mind you may not just have to do it all at once. You could probably do it in stages.

It could take up to three days if we need all rooms done…….you cant spread it out much or he wouldnt give us the discount

KyDebbie
February 4, 2026 6:19 pm

The discount makes a big difference a a reason to do it all at once.
