Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I’m surprised he didn’t mention today’s happenings, but I suppose since a decision hasn’t been made, maybe he thought he shouldn’t.

Hi Pam. I was being facetious. I watched it. He just didn’t say anything. Anything! Not a thing! Embarrassing! Did u know the word facetious is the only word known to contain all 5 of the vowels, in order? 😊

Karen I think we both knew you were being that big word facetious! 😁. Wow that word does contain all the vowels in order! You are a true connoisseur of the English language! Hey I used a big word too!

Beautiful !!!!! And I read that it has a blue-green trunk. Probably hard to catch in a photo, but I bet that’s pretty cool.

Does it ever grow bark? Or is the bark green?

The Palo Verde tree (Spanish for “green stick”) is renowned for its smooth, chlorophyll-rich green bark and trunk. This vibrant green bark allows the tree to photosynthesize even when it drops its leaves to conserve water during droughts or cold, making it highly drought-tolerant. It is a quintessential desert tree with a distinctive lime-green to blue-green color, often growing in a multi-trunked, shrubby form.

Sleep good, honey. Sweet dreams. Maybe sitting on a river bank in the summer, barefoot, with your fishin’ pole on a well-placed twig. You are leaning back, against a slightly rolling hill, watching as you see the first rings of movement in the water, meaning the fish are biting. And that’s all you are thinking about. Other than Jade, curled into a ball beside you, sleeping peacefully. 💗💗 🦅

Elizabethtown is about 70 miles north, it is Hardin County. Those counties on your picture are up near Cincinnati, about a 3 hour or more drive.
