Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA
Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.
There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The man who mowed today told Jo he wanted her to know why he didn’t mow a small patch and pointed it out to her. He said there were 6 baby rabbits there.

He seems to be a nice man. By the time he had the mowers in the trailer Mama Rabbit had the babies moved.

I know! I bet there have been a lot of little babies that were not. Especially in the field which is bushhogged.
How good he saw them and how nice he let you know. My DH hit a rabbit’s nest he didn’t see one time. One was killed and one was very badly injured. We found a rabbit rehabber and took it to her but she saaid nothing could be done. She didn’t have a license to euphanize it. So we took it to our vet. She gave it the shot. They charged us $75 for it. A lot of friends asked why we didn’t just do it but we couldn’t.
You are a kind, loving person. That is why you couldn’t do it. But you still did a very loving thing. You tried with the rehabber, and paid with the vet because you didn’t want a tiny wild creature to suffer. It takes a special person to do that with an animal you don’t share a history or emotional connection. All my words apply to your husband also. The vet should not have charged you that much for a compassionate act of kindness. She owes our wildlife compassion too.

Checked the radar the have rain but no storms-I have storms moving through around 9pm

Checking in, I went for a walk even though I heard thunder, I got down poured on no big wind just heavy rain,I had my umbrella with me-I thought I could beat the storm and got half way to the Dollar store so it wasn’t bad at all and stayed mostly dry. Oh I used to have 4:00 growing and I don’t know what happened but I haven’t had them for years now. What kind of store do you buy them at? Is it called the Dollar tree or what? Or maybe you could send me some of your seeds after they bloom and produce seeds?
I got them at Dollar Tree, I will send seeds they make a lot of seeds as you know you have grown them before😘
I would love that, yes I know they have lots of seeds. They were descendents of my Grandma’s but I guess they never came up anymore…..maybe the Moon flowers took them over?

Good afternoon…we had a little storm and rain for awhile. DH is cutting an avocado and saving some for me, yum. I’m going t see if he wants to go out later to eat but I do want to be back around 7 for AI…if not, maybe take food to FIL’s one night this week. Time for avocado 😋
