Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

I have a confession to make. I can see you all perking up and listening. 😁. I was pretty sad Wednesday when I was unsuccessful getting a scooter in my car. I can’t necessarily say unsuccessful, because I think I got the heavy one in, or almost, by myself. I was still not very happy yesterday, I wanted it to work so bad. So this morning I said to myself. “Self, get your butt up and do something about it”. So I proceeded to ride my recumbent bike 2 miles, rested awhile and rode it two more miles. I hope… Read more »

I have a hard time lifting the suitcase I take on vacation. JoAnn has made comments that if you cant left it you should bring a smaller one…..kind of directed to me and her other friend. So I ordered new luggage awhile back because the old was worn from traveling. I told her I would bring the next size down…then I asked her if she had boxes so I couold ship my purchases home and she told me i should consider bringing the larger suitcase because of the price of shipping…

if You can lift it enough to get it on the check desk and off when you pick it up you can manage. It rolls doesn’t it, and there is always someone to help. Or wear clothes more than once! Mix and match makes it look like a different outfit.

Good for you Debbie😍 you have a nice bike, you road many miles just don’t over do it, that was a lot to do all at once. You will be sore at first. You have ridden your bike before so you know how to use it😘

Hey Pam! we’re already at 101 and it’s only 230 so maybe it’ll get another degree hotter We’re still running our swamp cooler we don’t even have the AC ready yet and I hope to God we don’t have to for awhile because I hate AC. Happy anniversary to your mom and dad💖

Ardy can you open windows with the swamp cooler? Maybe you told us you crack them?

You have to have some windows open aways or they dont work properly. We have our bathroom window open 24/7 and our doors are always open.

What happens if you run a swamp cooler with windows closed?

If windows are shut, or not open evenly, parts or all of your house will not be cooled, and the cooler motor will just be working too hard trying to force air into a closed home.

We will be getting very humid with the heat rising-not looking forward to it, soft rains are the best the ground was so dry if it had rained harder it just would of run off, soft gives it a chance to sink in

someone from the Derm office called. The under arm biopsy that was a skin tag (I dont know why she biopsied it) was benign. And the boob mole came back as an slightly irregular mole, the biopsy took the entire mole and the margins are clear. So, all is good.

Julie, this was on Nextdoor neighbor in Tucson

Two weeks ago we had a caterpillar for a Black Swallowtail butterfly eat our dill plant. Word is spreading through the caterpillar community because we now have three of them munching on our parsley!

Thanks Ardyth the butterfly will lay eggs on Parsley, so not surprised the are eating there, the caterpillars mimic the Monarch catterpillars as far as looks😍 they make a brown chrysalis, they can be hard to find

Good late morning…kind of dark out, will have rain on and off today…I’ll go back to my petsitting when there is a break. I’m supposed to add just a little water where the gecko eggs are in a tank. the eggs are on little rocks so just to dampen the rocks a bit. I won’t be doing that much at home, just feed the furkids I think. I’ll BBL unless I’m too busy or tired..

Hi Lynn, are you pet sitting anything else except a gecko?
I saw at Decorah you would like a salad like Becki had at Panera, but one isn’t close. The salad I got at McAllister’s is very similar. There are 39 of those in your state, but I don’t know if any are in a town you go to. I didn’t see one in your town.
