Live Hummingbird Nest Cam – Oceanside, CA

Your watching a live broadcast of wild female hummingbirds nesting.

There are several Hummers that nest in this yard. Their nests are usually located bushes and no larger than the size of a golf ball. The nest is made from feathers, leaves and other parts of plant matter. She then wraps this material together with spider webs. The eggs she lays are about the size of a breath mint(tic-tac). Hummingbirds lay 1 or 2 eggs per clutch. You can expect to see them hatch after about 14-16 days from the date they are laid. The chicks will continue to grow in the nest for about three to four weeks before fledging. More information about the cams, set-up or to make a donation please visit alyssasnaturesanctuary.org.

Good morning…it’s been raining a lot, so won’t have to water flowers. I guess the main thing today is laundry but won’t be able to hang things outside so I’ll hang them in the basement. Other than that, might do a couple this and that things. I’ll try to BBL

Hi Julie…sorry to hear that…the only way, maybe, would be to have caregivers around the clock like we have for FIL..and as you know, Dh is one of them…we are lucky/blessed to have them.

I understand…we got names from the nursing home (we have several part timers) and then if one quits or gets fired, the other caregivers find someone and take turns working during that time until they find someone

sorry to hear about your dad 🙏…I’ve heard of family members being caretakers quite often, would that be a possibility your brother could look into

yes, when my dad was bedbound my sister-in-law was his caregiver and she had no medical background, I think it is done in a lot of cases

Oh I am sorry to hear that Julie. Is your dad not doing well or just cant come home to live for other reasons?
24 hour care is expensive unless you have insurance.

Good morning Sunshine. Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. What was the primary cause? Stroke? I assume your Mom and brother talked to a doctor about all options, especially home health care paid for by Medicare/insurance. I’ve had several encounters with home health. This last time at one point they sent an occupational therapist. They have lots of physical therapist, but not many occupational ones. That therapist I’m sure had to come a distance that took her one hour to get here. She was on the other side of the lake, had to drive to Somerset then… Read more »

Thanks Debbie, the cause is what got him there the stroke the fall he had-he just not improving, would need care to be at home. They are trying to get help from Medicare-its just taking so long to get any answers

I think DH found out that nursing homes and caregivers cost about the same.

Unless you liquidate assets and apply for Medicaid. It sometimes take a senior advisor and lawyer.

I understand Julie. I wish there was a way, more support, more resources. It is hard in an isolated and rural area. There are lots of different government agencies and senior advocates that might have ideas. If he were in a large nursing home in a larger community the nursing home social worker would have more ideas. At least give some government phone numbers.

My Mom has gotten help with trying to figure things out, she has had meetings with someone a advocate that has helped her it just takes time to figure out what to do. It sounds like one thing has to be OKed before the other thing can happen. Thanks for your ideas, already working on things it just takes time
