About the nest
This live sea eagle nest camera is positioned approximately 50 feet above the ground in a eucalyptus tree within a protected nature reserve at Sydney Olympic Park. The nest is home to a pair of White-Bellied Sea Eagles (Haliaeetus leucogaster), one of Australia’s largest native birds of prey.

Parent brought a nice fish at 11:34. Nobody showed up to eat it. After waiting for 10 minutes, the parent took the fish up the tree to eat it.

Thought that the mom was eating it. Turns out the mom flew to the branch where Big was and fed Big some fish, then she flew down to a lower branch and fed Lil some fish. What a good mom. 💖 A currawong was flying nearby during the feeding.

Lil was looking for more fish, but Big was in between the mom and Lil, and Big got the rest of the fish.

Sorry to hear that things have been a little difficult for you lately, jersey. Hope things get better. That happens sometimes to all of us. Appreciate you’re taking the time to update us when you can. Thanks.

Bird delivered at 18:00. Lil was in the best spot to claim it. There was a battle over the bird and Lil held onto it. Lil was eating for about 4 minutes. Then Big charged at Lil, and Lil gave up the bird, so Big ate the rest of it.

Both eaglets were away from the nest quite a lot today, and both had returned to the nest by 17:24. Didn’t see any food deliveries yet.
Now that they both can fly, the parents are going to drop off food less and less so that they’ll eventually leave the nest. The time of an empty nest is drawing closer.

One of the eaglets was de-furring the microphone for the camera. Probably was disappointed to find out that there was no food to eat under that fur. 😆
