6:56 am Parents flew in with a bird. No one was there to claim it. After a couple of minutes, the parent took the bird away. The cam was scanning the area, but I didn’t see the fledglings around. Then at 16:58, the mom flies in with a bird. About a minute later, Lil flies in and the mom starts feeding Lil. The at 17:10, Big flies in and is also fed some of the bird.

18:16 the mom brought another bird. Big and Lil were both perched on a nearby branch, and Big flew in to claim it. A currawong was nearby, so Big didn’t start eating yet. Big was watching the mom’s reaction to determine if it was safe to start eating.

At 18:24, Lil flew in and it looked like Lil wanted to be fed some of the bird, but the mom didn’t take it from Big. Lil moved in closer to Big with the hope of stealing a piece of the bird but wasn’t able to. Too scared and runs away. The mom finally grabbed the bird from Big at 18:44, and fed both of them.

14:59 bird delivered. Lil was the only one there, so he claimed it. But then Big flew in and pushed Lil away from the bird. Eventually Lil managed to steal a piece that had broken off.

But the piece was small, so Big ate almost all of the bird.

At 6:49 the mom brought a bird which Big claimed (since Big was lower down on the branch and closer to the nest). Then 3 minutes later, the dad flew in with a fish. Lil ran to claim the fish, but Lil had a hard time getting the fish started because the head was still on it. Big saw that Lil had the fish (even though Big had the bird to eat) and Big decided she wanted that fish. Big grabbed Lil’s foot to force Lil to drop the fish (Big is on the left and Lil on the right).

Big wouldn’t let go of Lil’s foot even though Lil had already dropped the fish.

The mom moved in closer and was watching the struggle. When Big finally let go of Lil’s foot, Lil went over to the mom and got fed the bird that Big didn’t want.

Big ate some of the fish and saw the mom feeding Lil the bird, so Big goes over to the mom to try to get some bird too. But the mom only fed the bird to Lil.

So Big goes back to eating the fish. Then around 7:30, the mom takes what’s left of the fish from Big and starts to feed Lil. Well, Big is not happy about that at all, and Big pulls on the fish with all her might trying to take it back from the mom. But the mom has a strong grip, and mom keeps the fish and continues to feed Lil.

Finally, the mom ends up feeding the end of the fish to both fledglings, so they both had plenty to eat.
