M15 Brings a Large Tilapia for an Afternoon Feeding as E26 Thrives

The afternoon feeding at the nest on January 20, 2026, arrived with unmistakable energy as M15 approached carrying a large tilapia in his talons. From the moment he came into view, F23’s attention sharpened, her posture and expression shifting as she watched him draw closer with the fish.

As M15 closed the distance and prepared to land, the anticipation at the nest was clear. Within moments of touching down, he moved directly into feeding mode, beginning to offer pieces of the fish to E26, who responded eagerly.

A Confident Feeding for a Growing Eaglet

The tilapia delivered by M15 provided a generous meal, and the feeding unfolded smoothly and efficiently. E26, now just over 30 days old, showed growing coordination and strength, remaining engaged throughout the feeding as pieces were offered.

At this stage, each feeding reflects noticeable progress. Movements are more purposeful, responses quicker, and stamina stronger than in earlier weeks. These moments offer reassuring signs that E26 continues to thrive.

A Varied Diet Supporting Healthy Development

Recent days at the nest have featured a wide range of food deliveries. Alongside tilapia, the parents have brought mullet, a duck, a squirrel, and even roadkill, demonstrating both adaptability and consistent hunting success.

This variety plays an important role in supporting balanced growth. Different prey sources provide essential nutrients and energy, helping sustain E26 through a period of rapid physical development.

Strong Nest Defense Remains a Priority

Feeding success has been matched by vigilant nest defense. M15 and F23 have remained highly alert, actively responding to intruders and maintaining firm control of the nest area.

On several occasions, other birds have followed the adults back toward the nest when food was visible in their talons. However, in one recent incident, an intruder landed briefly in the nest tree and then retreated almost immediately after realizing the mistake. Together, these encounters highlight the adults’ readiness to protect both their territory and their growing eaglet.

A Season Marked by Steady Progress

With E26 thriving, feedings becoming more substantial, and nest security firmly in place, the season continues to move forward with confidence. Each successful delivery and calm feeding reflects the experience and coordination guiding this young eagle’s development.

Moments like this afternoon feeding offer a clear snapshot of where the nest stands right now: active, well defended, and supported by attentive parents as E26 grows stronger each day.
